Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Amanda Huneke
Being a curious little monkey leads George to many exciting adventures; so it is no surprise that when he sees a man with a pole and string walking to the lake, George begins to wonder what he can do with his string. Like the man, George ties his string to a pole and adds a hook and some food. Then, George tries…and tries…and tries to catch a fish until…SPLASH! Into the lake George falls! When George meets his friend Bill, he discovers another fun thing to do with a string—fly a kite! Based on Curious George Flies a Kite, this version includes the same entertaining text and charming illustrations that have delighted Curious George readers over the years. It is a story sure to lead to many smiles and laughs as it continues to please toddler and preschool audiences. Reviewer: Amanda Huneke; Ages 1 to 3.

Meet the Author

Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in numerous languages. And many, many Curious George books have followed.
