Meet the Author

Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he studied philology and natural science at the University of Hamburg. He then married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in many languages, including French, German, Japanese, Afrikaans, and Norwegian. Additional Curious George books followed, as well as such other favorites as CECILY G. AND THE NINE MONKEYS and FIND THE CONSTELLATIONS.

Good content, I bought it without reading the reviews because my son loves Curious George and we were at the beach, but a really poor conversion on the Nook Color. The art takes up only the top part of the screen in portrait only, and the original text is faint, so there is readable text repeated.

At the beach George has fun but also does two good deeds. A great installment of this series.

I bought this book for my two year old son because we are taking him to the beach for the first time!! He loves all of the other Curious George books that we've read. This one is no exception. We've been able to use it as a teaching tool to tell our son what to expect when visiting the beach. As with all of the books in this series, the bright colors and humourous antics of George make us laugh every time we read the book. Each time we read it, we talk about something else in the imagery. Doing this has helped us to increase our son's vocabulary. What can I say, I'm a fan of all of the Curious George books. This one is an excellent addition to our library.
