Curious George to the Rescue: A Slide and Peek Bookby H. A. Rey, Editors of Houghton Mifflin Co.
Curious George and his dog friend Hundley are eager to try out some new skates. Pull out the sliding panels to see George attempt a daring rollerskating rescue.
Children's Literature - Marilyn CourtotThe tabs in this book are almost as big as the page, so it is called a slide-and-peek book. Curious George is interested in learning more about roller-skating. He and Hundley the dachshund decide to try them out. Hundley looks a little strange with his front legs in one skate and his back legs in another. Off he goes, and George is in pursuit. The sliding page show a red light where Hundley should stop and a green light which means it is safe to skate across the street. His lack of control results in a bit of a mishap as he runs into Gnocchi the cat, and George ends up spilling her whole plate of pasta all over the spaghetti chef. Somehow Gnocchi ends up with all her paws in one of the roller-skates, and Hundley is madly hanging on with George holding on to Hundley's tail. The pictures do not show it, but somehow they end up in the lake and are home covered with mud. Based on an episode by Lazar Saric from the PBS series, which was probably more amusing than the book.
