Meet the Author

Michel LaCroix's first novel, Alex in Wonderland, was published in 2006 by Haworth Press. Set in New Orleans, it was inspired by Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City and those wacky screwball comedies from the '30s. It follows the adventures of Alex Sumner, an uptown, uptight rich kid searching for identity in the freewheeling downtown French Quarter. Along the way, Alex encounters a host of zany characters and embarks on a journey LaCroix calls "fabulously facile."

Alex in Wonderland was an official 2006 selection of the Insight Out Book Club and nominated for a Violet Quill Award. Happily, the book was such a hit that a sequel followed in 2007, Through with the Looking Glass, which dealt with Hurricane Katrina. These two books morphed the Wonderland series which continued with the publication of Down the Rabbit Hole and concluded with Curiouser & Curiouser.

Michel lives in California Wine Country and says he's not absolutely sure there won't be a fifth book.

Mr. LaCroix does for New Orleans what Maupin did for San Francisco.  His pen makes you want to grab an Iced Tea, or cocktail, sit on a French Quarter balcony, and  drink Alex's zany adventures is New Orleans.  A must Sumner read for lover's of New Orleans' French Quarter , or anyone loving Tales of the City!
