Meet the Author

Ilona Andrews is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. Ilona is a native-born Russian and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.)

Gordon and Ilona currently reside in Portland, Oregon with their two children, three dogs and \one cat. They have co-authored two series, the bestselling urban fantasy of Kate Daniels and romantic urban fantasy of The Edge.

    Just What I Needed

I strongly recommend you read the previous books in the series (Magic Bites, Magic Burns, Magic Strikes and Magic Bleeds) before tackling this novella.

This is a nice little "pick-me-up" to tied me over until the next installment in the Kate Daniels series, Magic Slay due out 5/31/11 is released.

Don't buy this novella thinking its new material. If you are new to the Kate Daniels series, Do not start here. This novella is a teaser for the hardcore Kate Daniel fans. If you are familiar with the series but are not head-over-heels with it, than I recommend you should probably skip this novella.

This novella is pretty much a one sided collage of conversations and/or Internal dialog from Currans point of view. This will only make sense to those who have already read the series. Curran's twisted sense of humor was pure delight.

A must read AFTER ,or WITH Magic Strikes

I found this book fun and interesting. The Magic series is written from the point of view of the female lead, Kate. Curran is written from the male lead view. Curran is not a complete story, but Curran's views and thoughts at certain points in Magic Strikes. I have read all of the "magic" series and would very much enjoy more of Curran's views.

    Great compliment to Magic Series

This book is great, but it is NOT a stand alone book. It takes some of the more thrilling scenes from the Magic books and gives that scene from Curran's point of view. This ebook covers several books from the series. It adds a lot to the series because you get to know the somewhat mysterious Curran better. A must read for Kate fans!!

Highly recommended is only the start!

This collection of viewpoints through the eyes of Curran, the Beast Lord, is simply wonderful. Gordon has given such a fabulous gift to the readers. As a companion to the Kate Daniels books, these viewpoints provide a delicious element to an already addictive and highly enjoyable series. All Kate fans are waiting with near-painful anticipation for more.

Not critical to the on-going saga...

I thought it would be cool to understand Curran's perspective on his interactions with Kate Daniels over several situations, but it didn't really add to the story. As a woman I was hoping for more revelations about his feelings towards Kate, but it was as cat-and-mouse as Kate's feelings for him. I should have known better, but hope springs eternal.

Highly recommended as a companion to the Kate Daniels novels

Gordon does such a great job to give us Curran's point of view. This is an excellent companion to the series. Ilona and Gordon are outstanding authors and this is a fantastic gift for us fans.

    Great Insider View of Curran

Wish it was longer - only 63 pages. But it was a good insight to Curran.
