Editorial Reviews

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Vincent F Carr, DO, MSA, FACC, FACP (Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences)
Description: This book describes 80 common internal medicine cases with discussions of the salient physical findings, diagnostic work-ups, treatments, possible complications, and prognosis.
Purpose: As a study guide, the purpose is to present these internal medicine cases in a bulleted synopsis format for easy review.
Audience: The stated audience includes those preparing for many standardized tests such as the USMLE, ABIM internal medicine boards, and physician assistant national certifying examinations.
Features: The book is divided into organ system sections with individual chapters on specific diagnoses. Although the book uses many tables to summarize the material, a significant shortcoming is the lack of any photos, particularly in the section on skin disorders. Each chapter includes relevant references.
Assessment: This is one of many available study guides, but the lack of photos makes this a bit less attractive.
