Purpose: The purpose is to provide an up-to-date source for surgical management and therapeutic options in general surgery. These are certainly worthy objectives and the authors meet these objectives as this is the most comprehensive update in general surgery.
Audience: This book is written for residents of surgery and is more helpful to more senior residents in surgery. It is pertinent for practicing general surgeons in academic and private settings. It is especially useful in studying for the American Board of Surgery Qualifying and Certifying Examinations, as well as the Recertifying Examinations. The authors are certainly credible authorities.
Features: It covers virtually every problem that a general surgeon may encounter in his or her career. There are new expanded sections focusing on innovative techniques in general surgery, as well as minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Assessment: This is an excellent text that stands out among others as an authority on up-to-date therapeutic options in general surgery. It is an excellent text for study for the American Board of Surgery or Recertifying Examinations. The release of new editions every three years keeps this series current in standards of care.
