Overview

Shrouded in secrecy, the Ark of the Endowment has remained hidden for millennia. Those fortunate enough to know of its location have but one task: to keep its contents from being stolen. Like Pandora's Box, the legend says that anyone who partakes of its sacred contents will invoke divine judgment upon the world. But who is to say that it cannot be used for good? Who could resist the temptation of its promise: eternal youth? Brent Venturi owns and operates a library in Palm Cove, Florida, that has been in his family for generations. But unknown to most, his simple life and dedication to structure have been engrained in him by a career of elite military service. As the retired captain of a group known only as the Phantom Squad, he has no history or records on file, and he remains the property of the United States Government. His rigidity and devotion have cost him dearly; his service has left psychological and physical scars, and he is emotionally distant. When the heirlooms of a man he hardly knew show up unannounced in his office, his everyday routine is shattered. Cursed Blessing is a rollercoaster thriller that will keep you guessing at every turn. Each revelation leads to more questions, cryptic warnings, secret maps, and shady allies. When the last guardian of the world's most important secret is dead, who can be trusted?

    more from this reviewer

5 Star Inspirational Fiction Thriller As a voracious reader, I

5 Star Inspirational Fiction Thriller As a voracious reader, I absolutely LOVE finding a (new to me) author like J.M. LeDuc. These books rank up there with the best authors that I have ever read, and I’ll show you how in this review of the first book. First of all, the lead character in the series – Brent Venturi - suffers spiritual angst like Charlie Parker does in John Connolly’s series. All 3 books in this series have complex action and adventure plots similar to those that challenge Mallory in Carol O’Connell’s series and the various plots of Katherine Neville’s books. The stylistic use of seeing the adventure and the other characters through the eyes of the primary character (Brent Venturi) is comparable to how Eliot Pattison uses his Inspector Shan Tao Yun in his series. Also, the author uses the power of and the need for spirituality in all three books as a primary character like Eliot Pattison does in his Inspector Shan Tao Yun series. Finally, all three books are thought provoking both in the inter-personal journeys and spiritual evolutions of each character similar to themes explored in Rod Pennington’s and Jeffery Martin’s The Fourth Awakening series.

PLEASE do NOT be intimidated if you haven’t read any of the comparable series. Just know how special THIS series about “The Chosen” is. This first book gives the back story of the primary characters, and sets the stage for the entire series.

I can not HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book and this series enough. Kudos to you, J.M. LeDuc. Please keep writing so that we may keep enjoying your books!

Very good all the way to the end.

I liked the characters, the setting of the book, and the evil that existed was not so graphic that it became repulsive to read. Even though it is obviously fiction, it is still worth letting your mind run down the trail of fantasy for just a little while. Really enjoyed this one!

    Good one

Christian thriller. That is an interesting combination. I had expected it to be bloodier, I suppose, being a thriller. But then it really didn't need to be. I was initially thrown off by the prayers as it was somewhat unexpected, but again did seem to work. This booj got me to thinking about servicemen and how they serve in our military along with their faith. It made me think about the men and women, like David and his brothers, throughout the Bible who fought in wars, etc.

It was a good read. Hope to read Book Two.

I wasn't prepared for how good this book was going to be! It was the first book I had read by this author, and the storyline seemed like something I'd like, but I could not put it down! Great read from start to finish. Have already ordered the second book and can't wait to start reading it! Look forward to seeing many more books from this author!!!

Best new author I have read in years!

Cursed Blessing was a great read from the first page. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough and then I was mad when I was finished. Luckily, it ends with a hint of what is to come. I can't wait for Cursed Presense.

    Amazing ride

From the first page, you had me. I couldn't put it down. The characters jumped off the pages and into my life. Great new take on the "fountain of youth" and the covenant between God and Noah. I loved all the biblical prophacy. I also loved that you intertwined a Christian message thoughout the plot. I can't wait for the next one.
