Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Hazel Buys
Criminal activity using computers, computer networks or the Internet has risen exponentially with computer technology, now commonplace in our lives and businesses. The list of cybercrimes is long and each crime requires a different approach for solving the crime and catching the perpetrator(s). The tools and technologies needed to protect against such crimes, called cyber security, also require an individualized approach. The different types of cybercrime, e.g., hacking, phishing, cyber bullying, identity theft, are discussed in 2-page spreads supported by color photographs and bright, contrasting graphics which give the pages a contemporary, energetic appearance. Sidebars, labeled "Busted," "Fact File" and "On Target," give further information about the cybercrime under discussion. This book, one in the "Inside Crime" series, concludes with a glossary, a list of resources labeled "Further Information," an index and an abbreviated description of other books in the series. Hynson's book would be a good addition to a middle school or high school library or science class focusing on modern forensics. Reviewer: Hazel Buys
