Overview

Cartographer Trevelyan Quest Edwards is a quirky and candid observer as well as a survivor; camping on a budget of next-to-nothing while cycling alone for five months on a mountain bike. No watch, just a compass. Easy to read and adventurous, Cycling solo is a crafted compilation of Trevelyan's blog entries during his solo adventures from Ireland to Istanbul via U.K., the Swiss Alps, Serbia, Bulgaria, Hungary and Turkey, with forgettable campsites, random kindnesses, eccentrics, falls, punctures and steep kilometers in between; this is worth sharing.

Meet the Author

Best known of Hazel Edwards' 160 titles is 'There's a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake' (Penguin) inspired by the then 3 year old Trevelyan. Cartographer Trevelyan works in Australia's Northern Territory, but between April and Sept 2005, he cycled solo from Ireland to Istanbul, keeping a blog via Internet cafes. International mates and family tracked his quest. Cyber-wise Trevelyan introduced his frequently travelling family to the blog.
