Children's Literature - Kathie M. Josephs
Shades walks into a coffee shop and while drinking his coffee and talking with Zelda, his waitress, a gang drives straight through the shop wrecking it. Everyone tries to find cover. A customer calls the police, but Shades doesn't want to wait for them and tells Zelda that he is going to see if he can find out where the vehicle is going next. Once out of the shop, he turns into an amazing hero dressed in a black and yellow suit with a mask. His fancy footwork and other powers allow him to defeat the group, but it did take him several tries. He knows he should have called the rest of the team in to help him, but decided to do it himself. Will he get taken off the team for doing this? The illustrations are great and add much to the story. There is a lot of action and exciting encounters. This is part of a series, but it doesn't have to be read in order. Boys are sure to reread this many times. The author's message to the audience is that in life, you have to come prepared.
