Cytopathology of Neuroendocrine Neoplasia: Color Atlas and Text

The neuroendocrine system is fascinating. It is an intriguing, complex system. For centuries, it has sustained the interest of scientists, who have provided the community with a wealth of information on neuroendocrine tumors types—history, genetics, clinical presentation, surgical pathology, differential diagnoses…on everything except cytopathology…until now.

This one-of-a-kind color atlas fills a long-standing void in neuroendocrine resources. This atlas provides clear, descriptive information on the cytopathology of neuroendocrine tumor types and differential diagnoses in one cutting-edge, comprehensive resource. This unique atlas is dedicated exclusively to providing expert, illustrated coverage of the cytopathology of neuroendocrine tumors.

Inside, the content addresses the wide distribution of the neuroendocrine cells in the body and the ubiquitous nature of their neoplasms. Readers will also explore detailed descriptions of the morphologic spectrum of the neoplasms (including different terminologies), as well as their immunocytohistochemical properties, associated ultrastructural findings, secretory products, and their association with many hereditary syndromes.

Put the power of this atlas to work for you!
• Detailed coverage of cytomorphology of neuroendocrine neoplasia provides information not found in textbooks
• Current tumor classifications for each body system are included as an appendix at the end of each chapter.
• Over 1000 full-color images detail a range of tumor sites and types, assisting in refining the differential diagnosis.
• Handy glossary helps clarify differences in terminology.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

"This is an absolutely gorgeous atlas. There are 17 chapters, and aside from the introduction, each chapter focuses on neuroendocrine tumors arising in individual organ systems (e.g., pulmonary, GI tract, pancreas, etc.)."

"There is online access to the entire book, a major advantage of which is that the entire text is searchable. If you can't find it in the index, search the online edition and you will in a nanosecond. The photomicrographs are also available for real-time viewing or downloading (e.g., for lectures). If you think they looked beautiful in the book, wait until you see them on your computer monitor - wow!"

"This superb textbook and atlas of neuroendocrine neoplasia cytopathology is a must-have for practicing cytopathologists."

Description: This is a comprehensive textbook and cytopathology atlas of neuroendocrine neoplasia.
Purpose: It is intended to serve as a single authoritative reference for cytomorphology and cytopathology of neuroendocrine neoplasia. There is a relative paucity of references on this subject, and this book nicely fulfills this purpose.
Audience: Although written for practicing cytopathologists, this book also would be of considerable interest to residents and fellows training in anatomical pathology and cytopathology and to cytotechnologists (in training or in practice). Finally, surgeons and oncologists might be interested in learning how pathologists diagnose these tumors and the evolution of diagnostic pathology classification schemes.
Features: This is an absolutely gorgeous atlas. There are 17 chapters, and aside from the introduction, each chapter focuses on neuroendocrine tumors arising in individual organ systems (e.g., pulmonary, GI tract, pancreas, etc.). An abundance of photomicrographs superbly depict the cytomorphology (often using multiple stains) in various body sites. Clear and concise tables in each chapter compare and contrast various features to assist with diagnosis. Each chapter ends with an appendix listing the WHO diagnostic classifications. There is also online access to the entire book, a major advantage of which is that the entire text is searchable. If you can't find it in the index, search the online edition and you will in a nanosecond. The photomicrographs are also available for real-time viewing or downloading (e.g., for lectures). If you think they looked beautiful in the book, wait until you see them on your computer monitor - wow!
Assessment: This superb textbook and atlas of neuroendocrine neoplasia cytopathology is a must-have for practicing cytopathologists.
