Overview

As part of Nocturne City’s Supernatural Crime Squad, werewolf homicide detective Luna Wilder is no stranger to scandal. But the brutal, high-profile murder of a young teen were, Lily Dubois, shakes her to her core. And it will pit Luna against the most wicked enemy she’s ever encountered…

Daemon’s Mark

When the Dubois investigation turns up an unexpected connection to the Russian mob, Luna finds herself heading down a terrifying path of no return. Soon she is held captive by the very evil she hunts—one that reaches far across the borders of Nocturne City to the seedy brothels of Europe and beyond. Now, with street smarts, seduction, and a sixth-sense for danger as her only weapons, Luna will enlist the help of her former lover Dmitri—who has his own reasons for bringing down this crime ring—and risk it all in the ultimate showdown.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
Pure Blood pounds along hard on the heels of Night Life, and is every bit as much fun as the first in the series. With a gutsy, likable protagonist and a well-made fantasy world, Pure Blood is real enough to make you think twice about locking your doors at night. A swiftly-paced plot, a growing cast of solid supporting characters, and a lead character you can actually care about—Kittredge is a winner.”  —Jim Butcher

“I loved the mystery and the smart, gutsy heroine.—Karen Chance, New York Times bestselling author of Claimed by Shadow

“Fast-paced, sexy and witty with many more interesting characters than I have time to mention. I’m looking forward to reading more stories in the exciting Nocturne City series.” —Fresh Fiction

Caitlin Kittredge just keeps honing her craft with each new book. Second Skin has some pretty creepy elements and page-turning action. Readers who enjoy good solid urban fantasy will enjoy this installment” —A Romance Review

Night Life dives right into the action, and carried me along for the ride…If the following books are written with the same care and interest as Night Life, they will be a welcome addition to this fantasy genre.” —Arm Chair Interviews

The fifth Nocturne City police procedural urban fantasy is an exhilarating entry

In Nocturne City, homicide is a way of life. At least that is what NCPD Supernatural Crime Squad police lieutenant Luna Wilder believes as she spends much of her time investigating murders. However, she has found solace away from the job in her relationship with ATF agent Will Fagin.

Her current case is nasty as someone brutally killed an underage teen Were. Jurisdiction problems arise between her unit and that of Special Victims who deal with minors flares up. As Luna and her team investigate the gruesome murder, they find an unexpected connection to the Russian mob. Following her instincts leads Luna to a dangerous confrontation in which she knows she will be fortunate to come out alive and with her heart intact especially where the case leads.

The fifth Nocturne City police procedural urban fantasy (see Witch Craft and Second Skin) is an exhilarating entry as the heroine remains nasty to subordinates, superiors and associates in the NCPD (just ask SV Detective Lane), and even worse when she grillins outsiders. In fairness Will has mellowed her a bit since Night Life. The investigation is entertaining as Luna kicks supernormal and natural butt; mostly of a Russian variety. Fans of the series will enjoy Luna's latest lunatic inquiry although once again one must wonder how, in spite of her resolution record, she remains a supervisor as she is as far from a people's person (regardless of species) one will meet.

    Great series........but!

Excellent series but then the author just bowed out! Shes written a few others in the mean time, that are also very good but she has yet to return to this one. So save your money for now as this is an unfinished story....and we all hate that kind of thing.

    I Also Recommend:

    Best Yet!

This is a series that keeps getting better and better. Daemons Mark is by far the best book in this series. It is action packed and fast pace makeing it hard to put down.
It has a very strong plot line that even if you took out the paranormal it would still be a great read. Kittredge blends a police story with the paranormal like on other.
Her world building is not over the top making it very beliveable.

In this book Luna is pulled away from her dinner date to recover a body of a teen werewolf. Bound and determand to find the killer at all cost, she finds herself wraped up in the middle of the Russin mob sex trade. It will take all her wits and strenght(and a little of her wolf) to overcome the postion she is put in.

I highly recommed this series and this book.

    A Great Read

I thoroughly enjoyed this book as I have enjoyed all of Kittredge's other books. It was non-stop excitement and adventure. I only had one problem with it. The back cover blurb was completely wrong. The blurb on the back of this book actually belongs on Nocturne City Series Book #4, not this #5 book. In fact, I'm pretty sure book #4 and book #5 have identical back cover copies. Other than that I loved it!

    LIked this series

In general I liked this series. Strong characters, lots of action. Gave it a four star instead of five for two reasons. The first one is the fact that it drove me crazy how many times a law enforcement officer could possibly lose her weapon. It became a repetitive theme throughout every book. Pretty sure it happened more than once in every book of the series. Makes her look fairly incompetent when she was smart and strong in every other aspect. Second reason is that there were a few loose ends I'd rather have seen tied up better. Nothing of earth-shaking importance but a couple of minor characters left out of the final wrap. Still...Overall worth the read.
