Reading the Bible in chronological order is helpful, because it's the way we think. When reading the Old Testament, I used to always struggle to figure out where the prophetic writings fit in with Israel's history. Smith puts them in their chronological place. He does the same with Paul's letters--they are interwoven with the book of Acts. I highly recommend this Bible as a great way to read through the Bible from beginning to end. I know many people who have become excited about Bible reading for the first time because of this book.

I purchased this bible over a year ago and have been unable to put it down since. This chronological bible is so helpful in understanding the full counsel of God as it puts all of the events of the bible in sequential order. For example: when David is being chased by Saul, the editors insert the Psalm that David wrote while he was being chased by Saul. I have a greater understanding of God's word by reading this bible. The other aspect of the bible that I think is indispensible is that it lists all of the Proverb verses by subject. For example: If you are struggling with anger, then you can go to the Proverb section on anger and see 6 or 7 verses that deal with anger. Very helpful. I just purchased two more of these bibles for some friends. This is a terrific bible for a new believer (I wish I had received this bible as a new Christian)!

As with any commentary, one must be careful. I believe in inductive Bible study where we let scripture interpret scripture and discover truth for ourselves. However, after doing this, it is often helpful to read commentaries. But, only after one has thoroughly studied The Word personally and let the Holy Spirit teach us should we consult commentaries. Since I have studied the Feasts of the Lord for several years now, I was disturbed with the February 20 reading. I could not find on-line how to contact the author, but would like to address my concerns. I believe in item #2. "Feast of Weeks (Harvest or Firstfruits)", that 2 Feasts are being erroneously combined here. I agree that the Feast of Weeks (or Pentacost as is known today by Christians today)is one of the 3 "major" feasts when the Lord required Israelites to go to Jerusalem. However, Feast of Firstfruits is not the same feast. It is celebrated earlier... see Leviticus 23. There are 7 Feasts of the Lord... 3 in the spring, then 50 days later Pentacost or Feast of Weeks and then 3 feasts in the fall. SPRING: Passover, Unleavened Bread & 1st Fruits pointed forward to Jesus as our perfect Lamb, He was sinless (unleavened bread), and He arose on the 3rd day (1st Fruits of our resurrection); then Pentacost (Holy Spirit comes upon the believers & also could represent the Church of Jews and Gentiles with the 2 loaves of leavened bread), then in the FALL: Trumpets (points to the time when the last trump will sound and Jesus will return), Yom Kippur (Zech 12: all the tribes will mourn when they see Him), and Sukkot (see Zech 14... all the nations will come up to Jerusalem to celebrate this and Jesus will physically "Tabernacle" with us in the flesh.

I have had many Bibles in my life but this is, by far, the best. It explains what you are going to read before you read it. Making it more understandable. And it is written more like a story instead of very by verse. I highly recommend this for anyone that doesn't particularly like to read and can't comprehend what they are reading.

¿The Daily Bible¿ is to READ, not a STUDY BIBLE although each section has a short, useful introduction. Since it is in chronological order, each part in time and context, the sections read like stories, keeping parts together. You don¿t get bogged down because it is divided into daily readings. It is fun to read, whether as an excellent choice for the first time, or to follow up after you have read all or parts of the Bible before and would like to experience it chronologically. The layout is a great help for readability as the chapters and verses are indicated in the margin not within the text. In this way the reader just keeps reading with no distractions. You are also more likely to remember what you have read. One of the greatest examples of the enjoyability of ¿The Daily Bible¿ is the story of David from lowly beginnings to persecuted to king to his death. ¿The Daily Bible'¿ includes the Psalms of David that apply to each episode. I also recommend the Bible for readers whose main interest is in literature. The NIV is a very widely used, respected and readable version of the Bible. There are a few explanatory footnotes when necessary. If you have any questions, answers are easily available elsewhere. The compact version (6.1 x 4.2 x 1.3 inches) is VERY PORTABLE, though its print is quite small.

This Bible is written in a story fashion and is written in a manner that makes it so easy to understand. The word of God really comes alive in this format. This version is awesome. If you've ever thought about reading the Bible, I'd suggest this format. It is so interesting.

If you have made other attempts at reading the Bible from start to finish and have found yourself struggling to keep up and/or get through it I would suggest you try this one. I have other Bibles but find this one has been particularly helpful in breaking it down to small daily readings. It's compact size makes it quiet portable too.

This book will make the bible feel alive with history. It puts things in an order so you can get a clear understanding of what was going on at a particular time. I love to bring this to my bible studies with friends because it has alot of useful information and again brings it all together in one area.

I purchased the book at the beginning of this year and it is truly wonderful. Stories that I wondered about and now simplified. It also help me to keep up with the reading based on the dates.
