Meet the Author

Kristi Burchfiel never thought that the difficult times she found herself stuck in would result in a Bible study. As a young pastor’s wife in rural Oklahoma, Kristi found herself digging deep into the book of Ecclesiastes looking for answers to the questions that overwhelmed her life: How do I prioritize my life? What things should I focus on? What do I do when things don’t work out my way? How do I avoid having regrets later on? Kristi’s notes and questions formed themselves into the book “Without Regrets: A Study of Ecclesiastes.”

Now, Kristi is passionate about studying God's word and helping others to study, learn, and apply God's truth in their own lives. She currently writes daily devotionals on her blog and Facebook page, she is in the process of offering these devotionals along with book summaries as Ebooks in "The Daily Devotional Series", and has a second Bible Study, "The Decay Within: A Study of Amos" in production scheduled to be published early 2012.

Whether it’s serving as a pastor’s wife, working a full time job for Michaels Arts and Crafts, or chasing her 5 year old daughter and 2 year old son, Kristi has learned what it means to live focused on God. She works daily to put that knowledge into practice and invites others to share in the peace of God through the truths found in God’s word from her books and devotionals.

Kristi grew up in Valley Center, Kansas and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She has been married to her husband D Burchfiel for 13 years, and they have 2 children, Rebekah and Andrew. They currently make their home in Wichita, Kansas where D is the pastor of Southwest Baptist Church.

Reviewed by Dr. Oliva Dsouza for Readers Favorite "Gospel of John: The Daily Devotional Series" by Kristi Burchfiel is a concise, easy to understand interpretation of one of the most important and popular books of the Bible. One can wake up each day to a new truth and focus on it. Each day’s devotional message focuses on one verse, the meaning in that verse, and a response to pray back to God, starting with a brief interesting introduction about the “sons of thunder” and the transformation of John to the “disciple whom Jesus loved.” A must read for those who wish to know the message of the Bible and learn more about Jesus Christ in an easy, uncomplicated way. It was a delight for me to come across a book that was so easy to understand and follow. I enjoyed the light feel of the book and the fact that, for once, the verses from the Bible really made sense to me. My personal favorite to meditate upon was chapter 21 of the book that talks about how we should focus on God’s plan for our lives instead of getting distracted by what others are up to. Keeping Christ and his teachings as the center of our lives and following the path chosen by him for us, while trusting his plans for us, will smooth out our lives and help us to lead a joyous and blessed life. A must read for those who wish to focus on Christ’s life in a simple and easy way.

I enjoyed Kristi's unique delivery of her bibly study for The Gospel of John...Each chapter is only one page long, but delivers insight into a particular verse in each chapter of John. Kristi delivers the verse, followed by the 'Truth', as she calls it. The 'Truth' simplies the given verse and helps open the verse for more discussion and/or thought. It's so easy to read a verse among many other verses and not stop to think about the verse on it's own. Kristi makes you stop and realize that each verse has a meaning unto itself and should be looked at on it's own merits and as a whole. Finally, Kristi does a wonderful job of leading the reader into prayer at the end of each chapter of the devotional. I would recommend this book for use in Sunday school classes...or in any bibly study group.
