For three years, Alexandria has lived among mortals--pretending to be like them and trying to forget the duty she'd been trained to fulfill as a child of a mortal and a demigod. At seventeen, she's pretty much accepted that she's a freak by mortal standards… and that she'll never be prepared for that duty.

According to her mother, that’s a good thing.

But as every descendant of the gods knows, Fate has a way of rearing her ugly head. A horrifying attack forces Alex to flee Miami and try to find her way back to the very place her mother had warned her she should never return--the Covenant. Every step that brings her closer to safety is one more step toward death… because she's being hunted by the very creatures she'd once trained to kill.

The daimons have found her.

http://www.booksdevoured.com/2011/04/my-view-daimon-by-jennifer-armentrout.html - Books Devoured
This novella serves as a wonderful ambassador for Jennifer Armentrout's upcoming Covenant series. The first chapter of book 1, Half-Blood, is included with Daimon and I can tell you that you are not going to want to wait to see what happens next!

BOTTOM LINE: MAKES ME EVEN MORE EXCITED TO READ BOOK ONE!
http://www.readingangel.com/2011/04/daimon-by-jennifer-l-armentrout-review.html - Reading Angel
I love the mythology and world that was created in Daimon. In just a short prequel I was able to grasp the concept of the world without wordy explanations... Daimon really reminded me of a mix between Percy Jackson and Vampire Academy! Fans of both are really going to love it. Move over Rose Hathaway, Alex is coming to town!!!! I'm anxiously waiting for Half-Blood, September is just too far away!

Will Whet Your Appetite for More Covenant Books

As far as prequels go, Daimon is very near perfect. Jennifer L. Armentrout has given readers a backstory that is not only action-packed, but offers some real insight into the mindset that Alex has towards the beginning of Half-Blood.

Many short prequels leave the reader wanting more and Daimon certainly does that, but it also gives the reader a complete story; introducing a likable main character in Alex, then throwing heaps of bad on her. And I loved it.

If you're even slightly interested in reading Armentrout's debut, Half-Blood, I suggest you check out Daimon first. It will whet your appetite for some serious mythological goodness, and have you eager for some more snarky Alex. Oh, and did I mention some truly BAMF-worthy fight scenes? Because they're there too.

    Definitely worth reading!!!!

This is a great book! There was rarely a dull moment! I seriously couldn't put it down, I stayed up half the night reading it! I love how the author pulled everything together perfectly for the next book; Halfblood. It did remind me a bit of Vampire Academy, but there are big differences! It was great even to the last page!

Good Read minus some pet peeves

Really loved the story line. Character development good. The grammar and punctuation errors were a distraction.

    Live To Read

This novel will serve to make the reader more excited to read Half-Blood, the next novel in this series. The reader will meet Alex, the main character. Alex is of mixed heritage, she is both human and god-a half-blood. Her mother is murdered by Daimons, forcing Alex to run to a place and people she isn't sure will help her. Alex is a strong, determined main character who will endear herself to the reader very quickly.

This novel is short, but it is meant to be a prequel. The reader will be taken into a fascinating world of gods and humans. The author makes the facts of the world very clear to the reader, he/she will not be confused. The novel is fast-paced and exciting. There are surprises and intriguing events throughout the novel.

The short novel ends on a huge cliff-hanger! The reader will be looking forward to Half-Blood. This novel is terrific for young adult/teens who enjoy fantasy novels with plenty of action.

A new fave of mine that had my blood pumpin'

Woo! Hoo! I found a new fave and I only read the Prequel! OMG.this book had my blood pumping, I think I should have my blood pressure checked! And then bam, you leave me at that? AND now I have to sit here and wait to see if I can get an ARC to fulfill my fix! To make it even worse, if I don't get an ARC, I have to wait until September for the release date?

This series is going to seriously ROCK! Alexandra (also goes by Alex and Lexie.I love that BTW), is the type of heroine I absolutely love in a series. She isn't afraid to run but if she is caught up in a split second moment, the fighter in her comes out.

I'm going to call her Lexie because I like that name. Anyways, Lexie is a Half-Blood (Demi-God). Half-Bloods are trained at a young age to protect Pure-Bloods from daimons, the freaky, scary, looking' creatures!

Lexie and her mother have been on the run for the last 3 years, taking her away from the only life she has ever known to live in the real world.

My predictions is that Lexie isn't just a Half-Blood, there is something special about her and that is why her mom has had her in hiding for so long. I guess we will have to see! PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME WAIT!!!

    Non-essential, but more insight...

This novella is not essential to the Covenant series progression, but it does offer a more in-depth history to the main character of Alex, her relationship with her mother, and the problems she faced before returning to the Covenant. A quick little read.
