Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
The indefatigable duck is back in Daisy's Hide-and-Seek by Jane Simmons, this time looking for Pip. Youngsters can join Daisy in her search by pulling flaps that open the door to the chicken coop or by peeling back the petals of a poppy. The paintings are as luxurious as ever. ( Mar.) Children's Literature
It is no wonder that this charming lift-the-flap book has been selected for so many children's reading lists. Actually a read-to book for very young children, the illustrations are irresistible and the story is simple, as befits its young audience. Two very young ducklings are playing hide-and-seek; and when it is the littlest one's turn to hide, Daisy Duck cannot find her friend. Young readers will delight in lifting the various flaps to help find Pip, who is finally discovered under her mother's wing. Daisy, with her broad orange beak and outsize feet, is a treasure and no one will be able to resist the occupants of the pigsty. Here is a warm, comforting book for bedtime reading. 2001, Little Brown, . Ages 1 to 4. Reviewer: Eleanor Heldrich

PreS-The star of Daisy and the Egg (1999) and Daisy and the Beastie (2000, both Little, Brown) is back in the familiar bright colors and whimsical style that made those books so successful. This offering takes the little duck to a new and interactive level with the addition of flaps. Youngsters will delight in joining Daisy as she looks for Pip (a baby duckling) in the farmyard, pigsty, meadow, pond, and other spots. In the end, she finds the little one safe and warm under Mama Duck's wing. A charming choice for reading aloud as well as for one-on-one sharing.-Genevieve Ceraldi, New York Public Library Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.
