Pop success has eluded vocalist Debelah Morgan, despite the promise of her early years. Rooted in the church, the gospel-influenced singer was crowned Miss Black Teenage World 1990-91 and signed with Atlantic Records while still a teenager, but her debut album failed to soar as high as her stunning voice, which has a five-octave range. After a brief stint with Motown, Morgan returns to Atlantic to release Dance with Me, which she wrote and recorded with her brother Giloh. Boldly flaunting her love of pop music, Morgan delivers the type of sugary, up-beat jams popularized by less talented singers such as Britney Spears and Mandy Moore. Boldly flaunting her love of pop music, Morgan delivers the type of sugary, up-beat jams popularized by less talented singers such as Britney Spears and Mandy Moore. But don't mistake this cutie for a cheap pack of bubble gum -- Morgan shows off her amazingly fluid, Mariah-esque vocals on the tango-tinged title track and on the classical-inspired "Think of You." Meanwhile, the rich ballads "What Would You Do" and "Bring Back the Sun" rely on Morgan's moving, fluttery tone. As a whole, the album suffers a bit from faceless instrumentation, but it makes a better backdrop for her decorative trills than the gritty beats behind Toni Braxton or Whitney Houston. On the inviting Dance with Me, Morgan successfully mingles her pop influences and her gospel roots, carving out her own space among a talented crop of soul divas. Neo Brentacious
All Music Guide - MacKenzie Wilson
Six years after Atlantic initially dropped her, multi-talented singer/songwriter Debelah Morgan returned with her third album, Dance With Me, a fresh, quick-stepping dance-oriented album. Morgan collaborated with brother Giloh on production and songwriting credits, which made the 14-track album a simple urban spin on R&B grooves and sultry hip-hop beats. She is emotionally confident and smooth in heightening her Mariah Carey-like vocal range, especially on tracks such as "I Remember" and "Think of You." A definitive musical maturation is pretty obvious from her previous material, and Morgan stays sassy with upbeat songs about adoration and the lovelorn. She isn't afraid to slow things down, and the ballad "What Would You Do" is an enjoyable look showcasing Morgan's sentimental brooding. It's a nice twist for Morgan, and her move in perfecting her angular pop-laden sound shapes nicely. Dance With Me is sheer, decent, and carefree in the sense that Debelah Morgan made a solid record with the idea of doing it only for herself.

    UNIQUE NEW DIVA

I don't know why everyone is saying that Debelah Morgan is the same as any other Diva such as Brandy or Mariah. She has a very unique quality about her. I think once she gets the hang of the music industry, she is going to be a Legend. Buy this CD, you will not be disappointed.

    This album's great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This album is my favorite!! Ms. Morgan has a voice that makes people turn back to that radio station with one of her songs playing on it. If I were you, I'd buy it!!

    Love It!!

Although I have not bought Morgan's CD I can tell from her song Dance With Me was great. This woman will reach the top of the charts in no time. She also shows that pop music does not have to be sung by teens, but can be sung by an adult. Can't wait to get her CD!

    Enjoy this album

I happened to catch the video for ''Dance With Me'' and purchased this album on a lark. What a find! Debelah's beautiful voice and range will stick with you. I find several cuts from this album playing in my head throughout the day. I've not heard any of her prior works, but based upon this album, I'd wager that Debelah will soar and join the ranks of the pop female vocalists.

    Awesome Diva-in-Training!!!

This is a good album and it's worth a buy if you consider that she is just as good as any of the young Divas-in-training. Her voice is great but it will also improve as she gets older. I think She could be the next Brandy. Support Ms. Morgan because she will become as big as any of the greats!!!
