This is a great series of short stories (though not too short), about 80 pages on my Nook. Very reminiscent of some of Lori Foster's different series, but maybe a little edgier. The sex is a little more explicit in these, but the story is still really strong. The brothers and their relationship with each other were very believable. I couldn't wait to get to Cooper's story once I read about him in this first book. Excited to see there's a full-length novel coming soon about another MacKenzie. Can't wait!

Dane MacKenzie never planned to return to Surrender, Montana, but sometimes you just had to go home. The last thing he expects to find when he gets there is his old flame-the woman he'd had to leave behind ten years before-working underneath the hood of a car. She's more beautiful than he remembered and angry as hell. This is a great start to The MacKenzie Brothers series of novellas. I love the "lovers reunited" story, as well as the conflict they had to resolve before they could get their happily ever after. This is a short, fun read, and readers should expect exactly that. The characters are great, as is their love story. It's impossible to flesh out a story as much I'd like in a restricted novella length piece, but I enjoyed this and I think readers will love it as well. All four books in the series were great.

Erotica disguised as a romance ebook. 40 or so pages of sex with a non existent storyline.

Dane leaves his hometown and a pregnant Charlie behind for 10 long years. She is furious with him but what does she do immediately upon his return? Spread her legs. He left and she decided she wanted nothing more to do with him but one look at him upon his return and she's having sex. He learns he has a kid and you would think he's be eager to see his child but no they have more sex. We never even get to meet their kid cos they were so busy having sex and then boom the book ends. Silly!

I would have liked to see a relationship with the father and son develop, it ended too soon...

Awful

After reading another of Hart's book I looked.forward.to this one. I was greatly disappointed. A short story (42 pages) filled mostly with lengthy sexual scenes. Porn not romantic fiction. No character development. Unrealistic timeline. Entire book covers one day and yet main character who has spent 10 years with heartbreak and rejection suddenly has this one day that everything turns out roses. With these characters and.the storyline Hart, with the writing skills she has shown in other books, could have knocked this out of the park. Instead she was.called out on strikes.

This has an underlying idea that could be written to be a very interesting story, but this author fell way  short as all she seems to want to write about is sex.  I thought this book was bad until I read Cade, by the same author and that one was even worse.  I am disappointed because I first read the author's book Whiskey Rebellion and thought this series was going to be very good.  The author should either  write romance novels or mystery and not combine them as seen in Dane and Cade. Sorry.

I love this author and her stories, but this one just didn't  click with me. I just wasn't connected to the characters and the story was too rushed. I will continue to read more from  this author despite my lack of love for this book.

First of all B&N should do a better job of informing consumers that this is just a short story. Secondly, with the exception of approx. 5 pages, this was entirely porn with a pathetic story line.

It was bad. There was a chance for this book to be great or even so-so, but it didn't happen. The story didn't happen, just the sex. I won't buy the rest of the series.

Quick read! Straight to the point, but that's what you get with novellas. This would have been an even better story, if it was given more time for development. Enjoyed it though.

I have very few authors, but this is one. The story always flows and keeps you reading to the end, no skipping through to the end.
