From Barnes & Noble
A Barnes & Noble Best Book of 2014

In Patterson’s Treasure Hunters series, the four globetrotting Kidd siblings are on the lookout for artifacts, adventure, and their missing parents–one of them kidnapped, the other just…gone. In Danger Down the Nile, they travel through Africa in search of King Solomon’s Mines, making friends, dodging enemies, and hoping to hear from their mom and dad. The book bursts with illustrations and historical facts that enrich the reading experience, as the tight-knit Kidds face danger and intrigue at every turn. From the Publisher
"The second volume in the accessible Treasure Hunters series offers the same likable heroes, high-octane adventures, and pun-rich humor as the first. Literary popcorn and fun for young readers."—Booklist
Children's Literature - Natalie Gurr
Tweens looking for non-stop adventure and humorous anecdotes will find it with the Kidds. Bick, Beck, Storm, and Tommy Kidd are the youthful children of super secret agent parents and have spent their lives exploring the world. Now their parents are in trouble and it is up to the Kidds to escape their, possibly villainous, Uncle Timothy, locate King Solomon’s Mine, and save the day. The Kidds may be young but they are brave, clever, and determined to rescue their parents. A whirlwind adventure sends them across the world to Cairo, and through the dangerous terrain of Africa. A hodgepodge of narrow escapes, ridiculous villains, and surprising spies make up the entire book. The first book in the “Treasure Hunters” series details what happened to the Kidd’s parents, but it is not necessary to read the first book in order to enjoy this one. The authors do an excellent job of recapping previous events. Older readers will most likely find it too absurd to enjoy but younger readers will appreciate the preposterous scenarios and comical illustrations. Reviewer: Natalie Gurr; Ages 10 to 14.

Determined to find their missing father and to secure the release of their kidnapped mother, the four Kidd kids travel to Africa seeking King Solomon's Mines and any clues that might help reunite their family. Alas, chances for success seem slim in spite of Tommy's optimism, Storm's photographic memory, and Beck and Bick's bravery in the face of danger. Adversaries seeking to thwart the four young explorers abound. Even some of their allies turn out to be their greatest opponents. Thankfully, a coded video message arrives from their mother at just the right time. In spite of losing their beloved boat, the Kidds are back in business with new contacts, new gadgets and, unfortunately, new villains. Short chapters, copious illustrations, and a rollicking, nonstop plot will keep readers eager to find out what the next twist might be. But it is the fiercely loyal Kidds and a healthy dose of humor that make this fun-filled adventure series stand out. The forthcoming third volume in the Kidd's adventure is set in China, and it promises to be filled with more danger, more espionage, more plot twists and of course more snack cakes. It's hard to imagine the adventure-loving reader who wouldn't be hooked by this series. (Adventure. 8-12)

Fast paced! Grabs attention of young reader.

Bought the first in the series for our Grandson and was not sure if it would be daunting due to size. As it turned out, he truly enjoyed first book and anxiously awaited second. He was in second grade when he read the first book and now is in third grade as he reads this second book. I anticipate him enjoying this series for several more years.
