Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Heather N. Kolich
Sensational full-page photos of toothy predators electrify many of the "question" pages in this selection from the "Scholastic True or False" series. Prehistoric-looking Komodo dragons, colorful poison dart frogs, and ethereal box jellyfish appear innocuous on other pages. Bizarre sea creatures and common insects show up, too. Questions, such as, "The Gila monster kills with one quick bite. True or False?" posed in a funky font lend a playful feel to the dramatic photos and urge the reader to turn the page for the answer. Each one-sentence answer restates the question. A brief paragraph follows with details of the animal's behavior, hunting methods and self-defense tactics. A factoid delivers another fascinating fact about the animal's habits or capabilities. The final two-page investigation is reserved for the creature that is deadliest to humans. The identity of this villain may surprise you. This is a quick, thrilling read that loads lots of knowledge into a small (6" x 9") package. Reviewer: Heather N. Kolich

    Wow!

The book I chose to write a book review for is "True or False: Dangerous Animals." The authors and illustrators of this book are Melvin and Gilda Berger. I chose this book because my teacher gave it to me.
This book is about dangerous animals. This is a nonfiction book. There are dangerous animals in this book. The book is true and false and you have to solve them. It has answers too.
This book is all about true and false animals. My favorite fact is that scorpions slurp their prey. I would recommend this book to someone who likes true and false books.
