School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 8 Up-- This adventure story is captivating escape reading. A severe storm complete with a tornado separates Sylvia and Conrad from the other members of their Mississippi River camping group. They are misled by the crew of another craft into believing that the others are downriver and go ahead in hopes of catching up with them. As the story develops, it becomes obvious that the crew of the Clayton Henry is quite dangerous. The story is well written, includes positive themes about trust and friendship, and should appeal to a wide variety of readers. --Linda S. Keith, Wartsmith Air Force Base Library, Oscoda, MI
