I believe that this dictionary is intended more for those learning English than for those learning Danish. I now have several dictionaries and find the point of view varies from that for someone learning English and that for someone learning Danish. Since this book, as the previous reviewer states, does not have many of the helps that a non-Dane needs for writing, speaking, and understanding (verbs at least) Danish but does have the helps needed for someone who knows Danish and is learning English, its primary audience seems to be someone learning English. A non-Danish speaker can use it to look up some Danish words and struggle through translating some genealogical records or letters in Danish. It is much more difficult to use it in translating into Danish or in writing. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

As a beginning student of Danish, I was looking for a dictionary with serveral features. However, this dictionary lacks the details needed by the elementary student. Pronunciations are given for most english words, but none for the Danish section. There are few if any idiomatic listings within entries, no gender indications for danish nouns, and no grammar review at all, which is found in even the most basic dictionaries. Overall, this dictionary was written for speakers of Danish and was only given an English cover. I would suggest that learners of Danish spend their $15 on a dictionary more worthy of being purchased. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
