Danzig debuts with a record of simple, pounding, bluesy metal featuring lead singer Glenn Danzig's trademark Elvis-meets-Jim Morrison bellow and outlandishly dark, evil lyrics. There isn't a great deal of musical variety or complexity here, but the band powers its way through such signature tunes as "Twist of Cain," "Am I Demon," and the (future) hit "Mother" with a primal energy. Plus, Danzig's tongue-in-cheek posturing as the ultimate unholier-than-thou heavy metal frontman gives the record a definite appeal, even if one is not inclined to view his theatrics as dangerous or threatening.

Danzigs first album,is a great debut. Every song on this album is good,be it John Christs playing or Glens singing. It really is an overlooked Classic. One of the best rock albums around.
This was Danzig's first alblum and you have to admit,it may be the best. This one was made in 1988, and has no limit when it comes to lyrics. Lyrics like ''a little twist of cain from the god below.'' It even has the classic subliminal talking in one song. I won't say which one it is so those of you that listen to alblums all the way through non-stop can be suprized, but still its a great alblum, with great songs, great sound, and great lyrics. If you like great blues with a lot of rock, this is your band.
An exceptional album this is as dark as they come. Danzig's style is like no other. A true cult album, no love songs in this one. One of the most truly darkest bands around, Death, Demons and Sacrifice. With a voice that just draws you in, you can't help but feel the need to listen to more.
danzig is by far my favorite singer, be it misfits samhain or danzig. His first danzig albums is incredible and i wish he would have kept the original crew of john christ and etc. All of the songs are dark and great. Though he will be remembered for mother, all of the songs of his first few albums are amazing.
