Dare to Be Stupidby "Weird Al" Yankovic
Dare to Be Stupid begins with what is perhaps Weird Al Yankovic's best parody ever, the brilliant and cutting "Like a Surgeon." Turning the tacky Madonna hit inside out and upside down, Yankovic comes up with a hilarious satire of the medical profession. Although the implications were probably missed by the none too bright Madonna, and may not have even been intentional on the part of Yankovic, it was a rich idea to use his parody to ridicule a serious subject rather than just take another poke at junk food or game shows. The record's title track follows, and it is the best of Yankovic's original songs that had been recorded so far. Any song that begins with a request to put down your chain saw can't be all bad. One of the best tracks is the amazing medley "Hooked on Polkas" that concludes the album. Yankovic goes for broke here, his slick band barely keeping up with him as he drags all manner of hit parade schlock through the harmonic wringer washer known as the accordion. It's a hell of a trip, including references to Z.Z. Top as well as disco and punk rock, and accomplishes more musically in less than four minutes than an entire evening with the likes of Brave Combo. Rick Derringer put the whole production together expertly.

Although not as good as In-3D, Dare to be stupid is a passable pleasure that everyone will enjoy. The parodies Like A surgeon, I Want A new duck, yoda, girls just wanna have lunch are up to par. And to end the album is another polka! Many people make this album stand up the most and his followup to this: polka party was to be so much better than this that there was too much pressure that this could not be surpassed just a year later. I give it a 4 out of 5 bc personally tracks 9 and 10 don't really cut it for me, but a great album!
this cd is cute becaues he sounds like a mouse but it is a kool cd all together!!! i love weird al he rulz!!
This is a funny comical cd. ''Weird Al'' Yankovic has many funny parodies. One of my favorites is ''Dare To Be Stupid.
The song ''Dare to be Stupid'' is excellent, the album itself is pretty good. One song, ''Cable TV'', does nothing for me, but the rest is great!
As usual, Al has done it again!
This CD is great. Any party I DJ and play these songs kids and even adults laugh until they're out of breath. I think anyone who wants a good laugh should buy this.
All the comedy and silliness aside, "One More Minute" is a truly great song by any standard.
