Overview

A romantic game of chicken-and they're both too stubborn to flinch.

Lucy Fairchild, lawyer and heiress to the Fairchild fortune, has just had the worst day of her life. Her father has found the perfect man for her to marry. Yes, she's thirty and single, but that doesn't give her father the right to run her life. She'll choose her own husband-someday.

Jake Dalton is struggling to make his fledgling construction company a success. Ever mindful of his father's derogatory comments that he'd never amount to anything, he's spent his entire life trying to prove he's not a failure.

From their first meeting on a construction site, verbal sparks fly. Their argument escalates into a dare for a date-and the game is on. Lucy thinks Jake is the perfect fake boyfriend to parade around in the hopes of getting her father off her back. Jake is amused by the chance to annoy both Lucy and her dad-he doesn't intend to take the dating thing seriously.

But the heart is a fickle thing, and not above playing dirty. In their quest to prove something-to each other, or maybe to themselves-they find themselves building a case...for love.

And suddenly all the rules have changed.

Warning: This book does NOT contain hot monkey lovin', threesome action or anyone swinging from the chandeliers (sorry 'bout that). It does contain sexy romancin' on a trampoline under the stars, fun one liners, a dog named Rascal and a smokin' hot construction worker named Jake that the author is convinced you're going to fall madly in love with. She dares you to read it.

I like Jaci Burton very much but with Dare to love I guess it left me daring for more plot and story.

This book was nothin special. I saw one reviewer mentioned something about a twist at the end - um really? That must be a fake reviewer because there was no twist. This book was predictable. Stuffy, weak, boring, rich girl with no life meets handsome blue collar worker. Not an original concept but this story had some endearing characters like the male lead characterJake and his adoptive parents..i didnt like Lucy. She just seemed to stuffy and she had NO backbone. I hate female characters like that, and she didnt when me over. So because of the annoying female lead in this book that kept me rollin my eyes every few lines i'd rate this book about 2 and a 1/2 stars. The ending was too rushed and the story needed more development.

2 things I hate: weak heroines and abrupt endings. This book had both.

This a sweet romance. It has charm and the characters are loveable. I liked this as much as her last, Nothing Personal. Just sweet, romances w/o the kinky sex and strip joints. Keep them coming, Jaci. And, thanks.

I enjoyed the book very much but the end needed more, the end was complete and incomplete at the same time. The end felt rushed to me, like the author author couldnt come up with more ideas and rushed to the the book. I know all books need a end but I dont like rushed ones but overall it was a really good book. I just dont want to give nothing away.....

One thing I enjoy about Jaci Burton is that she writes for a variety of romance enthusiasts - whether your romance novel of choice is erotica or contemporary, Jaci Burton has a title for you. The characters and story were believable and the romance was hot without being kinky. Just normal people with explosive chemistry who fall in love and try to make a relationship work despite of their differences. I would have like to known a bit more background on Jake's father and Lucy's parents prior to her mom's death, but it didn't take away from the story for me.

Typical Jaci Burton... Excellent characters, sexy story and yet very much like real life... Lucy and Jake were great together despite being from different sides of the track... Lucy grew up with wealth and did all the things her tyrant father expected to do... Jake was a self made man having left home at the age of 16.. He managed to find a family who took him in and after getting a degree he now owns a big construction company... Lots of bumps in this road before they find there HEA... Worth the read...
