Overview

Trapped and tempted, this battle of wills rages all night long…

Kady Dresco and Colton Brooks click on a level that defies logic. There are only two problems. One, he’s her older brother’s irritating best friend, and two, they're bidding on the same military security services contract.

When the competition heats up, Colton is torn between wanting to strangle Kady (and her annoying brilliance) and kissing her into submission. Which is a bad idea for a million reasons, because Kady’s submission is exactly what he craves. Being trapped in a tiny motel room with the object of his darkest fantasies will require every ounce of his restraint.

Kady doesn’t want his restraint, but Colton knows better. She deserves love, marriage, and a white picket fence—three things Colton can’t give her. But her proximity and the memory of their steamy near-miss three years ago slowly destroys his resolve. And he’s not sure how much longer he can keep his hands off…or his heart closed.

It's not often that I blow off my entire reading and reviewing s

It's not often that I blow off my entire reading and reviewing schedule to devour new books, but that's exactly what I did with the Wedding Dare series. After reading my review copy of Diane Alberts' Falling for the Groomsman, I gave in and read my first ever Tessa Bailey book, Baiting the Bridesmaid, because I was seeing such great buzz about it. That was all it took to hook me. I went back to the beginning and virtually inhaled this book and didn't stop until I'd finished the entire standalone series. I read them out of order, but it didn't matter. Each story can definitely stand on its own, but believe me when I say once you start reading about this group of friends, you'll want to know what happens for every pairing.

Laura Kaye's Dare to Resist was a great kickoff novella. Now, since I read these out of order, I already knew what path Kady and Colton were headed down, but I still wanted to know how the ultimately got there. I enjoyed reading about the transition in their relationship from competition-slash-best friends little sister to something decidedly more.

This novella was sweet and sexy and I really liked both Kady and Colton. The dynamic between them was powerful – as was the sexual tension and chemistry. Watching Colton begin to see Kady as more than just his best friend's little sister, as a woman with wants and needs was great. I loved how these two challenged each other in every setting.

If you're looking for a great, sexy adult standalone series, I can't recommend this one highly enough. I've read several Brazen titles, but I've never read an entire series yet. I tend to stick with the ones written by authors whose work I'm familiar with. This series has made me see the error of my ways. I'm definitely missing out on something. I thoroughly enjoyed the way all the characters appeared in each novel, giving another perspective to the pairings and the individual characters. These stories all meshed really well together and that's one of the things I enjoyed most about each of the books individually and the series as a whole.

    Short but very sweet

    ## Fabulous read. Yes it is short (approx 98 pages) but I didn't feel cheated at all. The backstory is well written and both characters felt complete. I loved both hero and heroine. They are frenemies with secret or not so secret crushes. The rough sex wasn't over the top. Just the perfect balance to be believable. I had such fun reading this story and will read again for sure.

    5 Colton-is-Irresistible Stars!

The falling-for-your-best-friend's-sibling is one of my favorite tropes. I love it when the main characters have known each other for several years. They pick-on and jab at each other while harboring secret crushes deep down. They would never, ever act on their feelings during their teen years, but as adults? Yeah, all bets are off, baby!

Dare to Resist is the irresistible prequel to the Wedding Dare series. This is Colton and Kady's story. Colton is best friends with Kady's older brother, and they've essentially grown up hanging out a lot since Colton spent much time with Kady's family. Kady is now all grown up, very independent, and works in the same field as Colton. He's her competition. Then one night they are stuck together and facing their true feelings for one another becomes inevitable.

All I'm going to say are three things. One...having a willing partner makes all the difference (yeah, totally smirking here!). Two...where can I get Kady's favorite book? Three...HOLY HELL!!!

I'm picky with novellas. I love that Laura Kaye writes about adults and puts them in realistic and delicious situations. Dare to Resist will make you squirm! This was such a fabulous guilty pleasure read. I'm excited for the rest of the series. Well done, Laura Kaye!  *I was gifted a copy of the book for an honest review.

¿The guy in your book?  I¿m that guy,¿ DARE TO RESIST by Laura

“The guy in your book?  I’m that guy,”

DARE TO RESIST by Laura Kaye is the prequel novella to the Wedding Dare series.  KUDOS to Entangled Brazen on such a incredibly sizzling start to the series!  It certainly whets my appetite for the rest of the series!  It's a quick read at only 150 pages and you'll definitely want to read this in one sitting.  DARE To RESIST can be read as a standalone if that is what you desire, but you will want to read the whole series once you've read this book :-)))  Here's the suggested reading order for maximum enjoyment:
Dare to Resist by New York Times bestselling author Laura Kaye (prequel)
Falling for the Groomsman by New York Times bestselling author Jen McLaughlin, w/a Diane Alberts (#1)

Baiting the Maid of Honor by New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey (#2)
Seducing the Bridesmaid by New York Times bestselling author Katee Robert (#3)
Best Man with Benefits by USA TODAY bestselling author Samanthe Beck (#4)
Just a quick synopsis of DARE TO RESIST:  Kady has had a crush on Colton for as long as she can remember.  However, Colton is Kady's brother's best friend so Kady is off-limits to Colton.  Now Colton and Kady are competitors for a military software security contract.   After each had completed their respective sales pitches at a remote military installation, a bad storm caused their return flights to be delayed so the military has set them up at the only nearby motel.  Unfortunately, Kady's room is experiencing it's own deluge within and with no other rooms available, Colton graciously offers to let her stay with him in his room.  Trapped sharing the same motel room for a night, they both must resist their mutual attraction.  LOL!  Not going to happen...
While this book's action takes place in just twenty-four hours, Colton's and Kady's relationship has been brewing for years.  This was one racy read!  The chemistry between the two was of the intense set-your-sheets-on-fire type and made for quite a fireworks show as their pent-up sexual tensions exploded.   I appreciated that it was a steamy book that Kady had brought along on her trip that served as the catalyst for the couple to work through their misconceptions about each other.  The book exposed Kady's deep, dark secret and gave Colton an incentive to work through his own dark demons.    I really liked both of these characters; they were genuine, realistic and comfortable being geeky together.  I thoroughly enjoyed their snarky bantering at the beginning and their sexy talk thereafter.
I have to share just a few of my favorite quotes to illustrate the awesomeness and the provocative nature of this read:
“Tell me you want me inside you, Kady. Tell me you want me so deep I might never find my way out again.
I do, Colton. I want you inside me. I want you everywhere.”
    ---
“White undershirt. Dark-framed glasses. Sneak peeks at black boxers. Really? How much more was a girl supposed to be able to take before she either spontaneously combusted or found a shower with a removable showerhead?”
    ---
“Colton Brooks kissed in an all-consuming way that stole her breath, demanded her surrender, and blocked everything else until the only thing she saw or heard or felt or knew was his lips, his tongue, his hands, his body.
    Him.”

I loved this steamy contemporary novella and didn't want it to end!  Colton's and Kady's second-chance- at-romance is sweet and HOT, HOT, HOT, a perfect combo to keep the reader glued to the book.  I inhaled Laura's perfect ending that left me with the warm fuzzies AND excited to read the subsequent Wedding Dare series that occurs at their wedding!  I highly recommend DARE TO RESIST to anyone who enjoys spicy contemporary romances!

I was in the mood for a Laura Kaye book been awhile since I read

I was in the mood for a Laura Kaye book been awhile since I read one of hers.
I was so happy when I started reading the novella.
Colton and Kady just explode off the page their chemistry is so strong.
They have known each other most of their lives and Kady has been crushing on Colton for as long as she can remember.  They had an encounter three years
ago that didn't quite go as Kady would have liked.  Colton pulled away and made her feel he didn't want her.  A shared occupation puts them in each others lives
again both being computer code specialists.  A monsoon type storm the desert leaves stranded.  Sarcasm flies around as well as the sparks, their banter with each
other was so much fun to read.
Great start to a steaming wedding week series.  I started on the next one right away

Dare to Resist kicks off the Wedding Dare Series written by some

Dare to Resist kicks off the Wedding Dare Series written by some of my favorite authors and with Laura being one of them, I was so excited for this book and let me say….what an amazing series kick off this was. Holy hotness!
Computer guru Kady Dresco has got some stiff competition when it comes to bidding on one of the biggest contracts of her career. Colton Brooks. She’s known him almost her entire life and has never been able to shake the attraction she’s had for him, which of course isn’t making this whole bidding for the same contract thing any easier. And now, after a huge storm cancels all travel plans to get home, they are stuck together in the last motel room in the area. She’s used to keeping her feelings for him under wraps for years so one night in a motel room should be fine…right? Easier said than done….especially when she starts to think her one sided attraction may not be one sided any more.
Colton Brooks can’t believe his luck. It’s bad enough he’s up against Kady for the contract he’d love to get for his company, but now Mother Nature has them stuck together for the night. There was always something about Kady that drew him in, but she’s his best friend’s little sister and was off limits. Sure, she isn’t little any more, but it still didn’t mean he could entertain the idea of being with someone like Kady. She’d surely run for the hills if she knew what turned him on and that made staying away from her a little easier. But when he finds out she may actually be willing to try things his way, his hopes are raised. Could he possibly have a chance with the girl he’s been drawn to for too many years to count?
Despite knowing each other for years, and having a shared secret mutual attraction, there was never a good time for Colton and Kady to get together until the fates intervene. Things are bound to heat up between this two when they both face what they’ve been hiding for each other for far too long.
Oh. My. Yum. This book was absofreakingloutely amazing. The heat factor was off the charts and with two amazing characters, Dare to Resist may be one of my favorite Laura Kaye works. Colton is a bit of a damaged hero and is wrapped in one handsome, kind, charming package. Kady is strong and honest with a dash of spitfire attitude that makes her a great character to read. The two of them together make one hell of a great match. I think one of the things I liked best about them is that having known one another for so long, we got to skip all of the early parts of relationship building and get right to the hot stuff….and oh my was it HOT! I mean really, really, hot. There’s also a lot of honesty between Kady and Colton, which made for a great pace of the story. There wasn’t a whole lot of game playing between them and being able to cut to the chase was pretty amazing.
I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the rest of the series! Thank you, Laura, for another amazing read!

Dare to Resist (A wedding Dare Novel) by Laura Kaye

I was intrigued by the title of this romance – Dare what? Dare who? Resist what? Resist Who? – and as I started to read about
Kady,  I found myself smiling and I just wanted to be her friend or be her! Her petite and beautiful body, her smart and capable
manner, her courage to stand up before a colonel and his staff to sell her professional expertise to them, her ability to face
equally tough competition in the form of a man named Colton Brooks. His wide shoulders, trim and fit body of an ex-military,
decorated hero, strong jaw where a muscle there always ticked when he was irritated and his intense brown eyes and dark brown
hair, all wrapped up in a well-fitting navy blue suit. WOW! Colton and Kady knew each other for years, and had a brief intimate
history but now, they had to face spending the night together in one hotel room, deal with their past, learn to listen to each other,
and come to terms with their feelings.  Another character, Albert Beckstein was pure comic relief during the teasing, taunting, and
discovery of how the competition can become cooperation at the highest level! I laughed, smiled, got frustrated at Kady and
Colton, wanted to punch Albert in the face, and by the end of the book, wanted to read it again.  I will too.  by CWLCL

The is only one thing to say about this book HOLY HOTNESS BATMAN. I mean seriously this book is smoking. Even in a novella there seemed to be so much to this story I loved Kady and Colton's story and I cannot wait for the Wedding.

Dare to Resist is the novella kick-off to the Wedding Dare serie

Dare to Resist is the novella kick-off to the Wedding Dare series (Kady and Colt's wedding happens to be the nuptials on which the series is based)--and if it's any indication, this series is going to be fantastic!

Cady and Colt are competing for the same military contract, which in itself makes their relationship a whole lot of fun. Add to that, though, that Colt's her brother's best friend and she had a huge crush on him when they were growing up? Yeah, total romance reader catnip. This one practically had my name scrawled across it in huge shiny red letters. With a nice, big smiley face heart for punctuation.

Kaye throws these two together here rather creatively--inclement weather, shoddy hotel construction, and a truly horrifying alternate potential roommate for Colt all do their part. As a bonus, it's a book that finally brings the two together. (I just love when authors and/or books take key roles in stories, don't you? So. Fun.)

It's a short, steamy read and oh so satisfying.

The rest of the series is due out next month, with full-length stories written by Tessa Bailey, Samanthe Beck, Diane Alberts, and Katee Robert. There's just enough time to pick this one up first!

    Rating: 4 stars / A-

Audrey had always had a crush on her brother’s friend, Colton. Being the younger sister, Colton had never given her the time or day until one day when she finally grew up and caught his attention. Except that day, didn’t really go that far. Now that they are grown up and working in the same field, Colton will finally see her as an equal; not only as a professional but romantically and sexually. Colton and Audrey will get their second chance.
Goodness to hotness, Dare to Resist is seriously a great read. I could not put this book down. Kaye kept me engaged page after page. Audrey was a pretty impressive woman with a very challenging career. I was impressed with how she stood up for what she wanted career wise and did not dwell on the rejections. The best part is without trying, she ends up with the man she wanted by playing the role of an equal.  She is pretty ruthless when it comes to competition.  Oh, and I can’t forget how steamy this couple was. Though the steamy scene didn’t come until after fifty percent, it wasn’t a dragging wait.

My only grumble is Colton’s realization of his love for Audrey. It just came too quickly for my liking and what made it worse is that they had made permanent and abrupt decisions that again, was too fast for my liking.

Overall, Dare to Resist was good hot read. Ms. Kaye had set a high standard for the rest of the authors in this multi-author series. I’ve never read the other authors, but I’m hoping they are up to par with Ms. Kaye. She did such a great job with this prequel that I’m dying to learn more of how the characters seal the deal.

If you don’t already know, this book as a five book series by five different authors. The other four books will be about characters closely related to Colton and Audrey and the books will be taking place during Colton and Audrey’s wedding.

The rest of the series are as follows:
Dare to Resist (Wedding Dare, #1) by Laura Kaye

Mistaking The Maid Of Honor (Wedding Dare, #1) by Tessa Bailey

Falling for the Groomsman (Wedding Dare, #2) by Diane Alberts

Seducing The Bridesmaid (Wedding Dare, #3) by Katee Robert

Best Man With Benefits (Wedding Dare, #4) by Samanthe Beck

ReviewI loved this intro book for the Wedding Dare Series. Meeting Kady and Colton was a lot of fun.

Kady is determined, and knows that she needs to work twice as hard to be taken seriously in her field of work. She also still has a crush on her brother's best friend. Colton is a smart ass, and doesn't know what to do when it comes to Kady. I love the sparks between these two characters. It was so much fun watching how they interact.

There is one super smexy scene. There is a bit of BDSM so if you aren't into that this may not be a read for you. I liked that even with the roughness it was still incredibly sweet. And the ending will have you all swoony. There's so much that goes on emotionally over such a short span of time. I think it worked in this book, though.

I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Laura Kaye's Dare to Resist is a sizzling start to a promising new series collection from Entangled Brazen!

Kady Dresco and Colton Brooks have known each other for a long time. Colton is Kady's brother's best friend. But that's all Colton's ever seen when he looked at Kady; his best friends little sister. Not the independent woman she is today. Or so she thinks...Kady has had a crush on Colton forever and the one time three years ago that she gave into it, she was left embarrassed and heart broken. But now they're fighting over the same security contract and when a storm delays their flights, trapped sharing the same motel room for a night. Kady knows that she must harden her heart and resist the deep-seated attraction she feels for Colton. But when Colton finds out one of Kady's dark secrets, he doesn't know if he can do the same. Can Colton battle his inner demons back enough to give a future with Kady a fighting chance? And if he does, can he convince Kady to do the same?

Short and infinitely sexy, Dare to Resist was full of sweet romance, thumb-biting sexual tension, witty banter, and off-the-wall (and against it) wild passion. This book might be novella size in length but their is no doubt that this story will leave you fully satisfied. The story was flawlessly written with characters that were easy to connect with. And who doesn't love the best friend's little sister romance trope? Kady is smart and sassy, and gave as good as she got when it came to Colton. And if you love dominant, dirty talking, sexy alpha males then Colton is the leading man for you. These two played off each other so well right from the beginning you knew that they were going to be explosive between the sheets, and they did not disappoint! By the end I was smiling and squirming in my seat. I can't wait for more from the Wedding Dare series that continues at Kady and Colton's wedding!

Sometimes it's a love/hate relationship between novellas. Sometimes they are just perfect the way they are and other times you wish they were a little longer. Truthfully, I wish this was a little longer, but I could live with the length Dare to Resist. I do believe it's a nice start to a series. However, I would have liked a little more Kady and Colton's relationship after they leave each other. That would probably be my one gripe. Other than that, I did enjoyed the story. Yes I do enjoy Brazen books, but glad story didn't have Kady and Colton jumping into bed right after they got to the hotel. Most of the time Brazen stories have the couple jumping into bed by chapter 2, and normally works. Yet, with Dare to Resist it would have been a little awkward with their past history. Kade was hurt by Colton's I guess to pursue the relationship 3 years ago. Honestly, I could understand, after all it's his best friend's little sister. Most guys have that code you don't go after siblings or other family members. I'm just glad Colton came to his sense.

Overall, I enjoyed Dare to Resist. Yes, I wish it was a little longer, but that usually happens with novellas. However, I'm excited that is the launch to a new series. So, if you are looking for a launch to a new series and like brother's best friend going after younger sister, you might like Dare to Resist.

What happens when 5 of the most AMAZING Brazen authors team up? They get to produce a series that is going to be wicked good and I cannot wait to get my teeth into each and every single one of these books.
Laura Kaye starts us off by introducing us to Colton and Kady.....Colton is her brothers best friend and the guy she has had a major crush on for years. That is of course until one night 3 years ago when after sharing some steamy kisses, Colton blew her off and has made it his life mission to avoid her since then. Problem is they both work in the same field and are currently bidding on the same contract.

A fierce storm strands our couple at a motel for the night, where once again these two's attraction is off the charts. What Kady does not realize is that the reason Colton has been dodging her for 3 years is because what he craves the most from Kady is her submission. He is a Dom and does not think that Kady will be up for all the naughty wicked things he has in mind for her. However what Colton does not know is that deep down Kady is a submissive by heart and her naughty pleasure is to indulge in BDSM books where she dreams about all the things she would love done to her.
When Kady goes to bed for the evening, Colton stumbles across one of Kady's books and when he realizes that she craves what he wants to give her, all bets are off.

This is a delightfully hot little novella that will steam and fog up your kindle in no time...

The next 4 books in this series will consist of our other Brazen authors each writing a book about the bridesmaids and groomsmen who will all come together to help celebrate out happy couples wedding.....

    Resistance is futile

Well heck. Laura Kaye is an author I've really been missing out on.

Dare to Resist is a frenemies to lovers story that's a hot read, setting up a continuity series which I'm sure will just get hotter.

Kady Dresco and Colton Brooks have known each other for years. In fact, Colton is Kady's older brother Tyler's best friend. For years, Colton has looked at Kady as the little sister. Things changed three years ago and got hot and heavy between these two. Unfortunately, Colton pulled back to only make Kady dislike him more. The two are thrown together when a monsoon requires them to spend the night together on a business trip.

Colton doesn’t believe in marriage and has never committed himself to just one woman. Kady is the image of a woman who deserves the white picket fence and two point whatever kids. She’s everything that’s sweet and innocent. Kady and Colton have secrets they haven’t shared with anyone. Colton is a dominate and doesn’t think he can be anything but. Kady loves to read romance novels and not the sweet, closed door kind. How can a girl resist when the man of her dreams walks out of one of her favorite romance novels? For these two, resistance is futile.
