Although Gabe yearns to possess ...
Although Gabe yearns to possess Isabelle, he knows all too well he must fight his primitive need to bind her to him, and instead help bring out the independent woman she yearns to become - or risk losing her for good.
A woman who needs to run her own life. A man who needs to exert control. Can she surrender to his erotic demands without losing her sense of self once more?

Dare to Surrender has a different feel to it from the first two books in the series--not in a bad way, but definitely different.
For one thing, it's told in both first person (Isabelle) and third person (Gabe) point of view. I liked how it worked here; the fact that each section was indicated with the character's name and a fun label (for example, two of Isabelle's consecutive sections were labeled Out of the frying pan and Into the fire) made it even better.
Secondly, even though the Dare family is here, they didn't feel as if they were quite as much of a focus as in the first two books. Part of this might be due to the fact that Gabe is one of the New York branch, whereas the first two books focused on the Miami Dares. The elder Mr. Dare who resided in New York (he and his wife died just after Gabe's college graduation) managed to sire only a single family, so there was less family drama here than in Ian and Alex's books.
Finally, as part of the Invitation to Eden series, a good chunk of the story takes place on the mysterious resort on Eden Island, with gives it more of an escape-from-reality feel. The first two books were definitely more grounded in the everyday lives of the characters.
That said, Dare to Surrender is a great addition to the series. The switch to a more personal drama from the bigger family focus was refreshing--hopefully while we're spending some time with this side of the family (the next series book is Gabe's younger brother Decklan's book) Ian and Alex can put more of their differences behind them. Gabe and Isabelle are great characters--Gabe is another strong alpha hero, like his cousins, though he does seem to have his act together a bit more than his Miami counterparts when it comes to knowing what his woman needs to find her way. Iz managed to re-create herself after her ex did a real number on her, which took a lot of courage and strength.
Overall the conflict and drama of this novel seemed to be brought down a notch from the other two--perhaps the influence of sand and sun? ;)
The island location is intriguing--I'll definitely be looking into picking up more books in that series to see what kinds of experiences other couples are having there.
And I'm really glad that the Dare family is such a large one. So many more series books to look forward to!

Carly Phillips has added a great story to both the Dare series and the Eden series.
Gabe and Isabelle's story is hot. We learn about the NYC cousins to the Florida group.
We get to see the softer side of another alpha male in the Dare Family--so fun.
Thanks Carly & Good Writing

Isabelle left a bad relationship and drove away in her baby Benz. The she got arrested for grand theft auto. Lance, her ex, dropped the charges and took back the car she thought belonged to her. Who should come to her rescue at the police station but her long time crush Gabriel Dare. They started seeing each other. She soon realized he wanted more than she was ready to give and he wasn't ready to let her all the way in. So, she left. Three months later Lucy Dare, Gabe's sister, presented Isabelle with an offer too good to pass up. Interior design in a club, on a private island called Eden.
Gabriel Dare is swoon worthy. That take charge attitude of his is ultra sexy! He can rescue me ANY day. For being such an Alpha man and we all know they have to have things their way, Gabriel has a tremendous amount of patience. He gives Isabelle three months to find herself before he can't stand it any more and makes his move. They are so in-tune with each other, it's enviable.
Fantastic story! I can't wait for the next book in this amazing series by this equally amazing author.

I was sucked into this story from the first page. With an exciting introduction, this book continued in this fashion the entire way through, and never failed to deliver.
When I read the beginning of this story, somewhere between Isabelle’s arrest and when she asserted her independence, it felt like I was witnessing a modern take on Pretty Women, minus the prostitution of course; although Gabe did tease Isabelle about it at the police station.
I loved that Gabe was kinda a bad boy but with a golden heart, and I think he would have taken Isabelle in whether his interest in her was romantic or not. I also really loved that Isabelle refused to be a charity case. She had been a doormat for too long, losing herself and all of her dreams in the process, and it was great to see her bounce right back.
I was a little sad that she ran away from Gabe after the kindness he had shown her, but again, I had to admire the way he allowed her to follow her heart and he gave her the space she so desired. Once they were reunited there was no coming between them and they were one smoking hot couple. Passionate and romantic, they nearly melted my Kindle a few times.
This was a sexy romance, with great characters. I loved getting to know them and going on this journey of love with them.

Carly Phillips never disappoints. Dare to Surrender is yet another one of her books that I enjoyed reading. And I emphasize BOOK - it is a full length book, not one of the annoying, frustrating, rip-off little novellas or short stories that "call" themselves a book and then leave the story so you have to buy another "book" and another one to find out what actually happens. This is what tipped me to 5 stars when I was really at about 4.5. :)
Glad to see more of the Dare family. Can't wait for the next books to come out - whether about the siblings, half-siblings, or now, the cousins. :)
Good character development, good story line, good setting description. Would I like to shake Isabelle a few times? Yup. Did I want to smack Gabe upside the head once or twice? Definitely. Would I have liked to see Isabelle to be a little stronger as she bounces back from a second confrontation with her ex? Sure. (But thank you, Ms. Phillips for not having her get kidnapped off the streets of the big city and whisked away to some shack in the woods where she had to be rescued by the hero.) Even with those minor character corrections (the kind of things I'd like to adjust in some of my real-life friends and acquaintances, by the way) I still very much enjoyed the book. Wanted to get back to it each time I had to set it down.

Book 3 in the Dare to Love series starts with an arrest rather than a bang. When Gabe happens to show up at the station and sees Isabelle he sees an opportunity to have what he’s been wanting and he’s going to take it. This one is classified as an NA and it’s in first person. I’m not necessarily the biggest fan of NA so that plays into my feelings for this book. I’m not a big fan of self-created drama and NA just seems to be full of it. I liked the Eden aspect of this one. I haven’t read many of the books in the Eden series yet but the island definitely sounds like an awesome place to visit. I like a strong heroine and Isabelle starts off pretty weak. She does get her backbone though and winds up walking out on Gabe so she can find it. Rich, dominant men have become a bit of a staple in books lately. Gabe is pretty typical and fits into all the stereotypes. The addition of Eden is what added enough whimsy to keep this one from being a run of the mill dominating romance. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

I don't normally like a book written in the first person. But this book was such a joy to read and you really got to know each caricature in the story. Their good things and the things that made them what they are. I couldn't put this book down at all, hard to do work around the house let alone go to work as all I wanted to do was finish the book to find out how it ended. Was this review helpful? I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a good love story. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Eden is indeed a pleasurable paradise.
Isabelle Masters gets one hell of an invitation to Eden after having endured an ex- that can only be classified as a first class dick. Only to be rescued by a first class attraction(Gabriel Dare). She has been attract to Dare for far too long and never would have imagined that it would lead anywhere. Dare knows in order to truly have her he must let her grow into the woman she years to be.
Phillips has put her stamp on this one. She makes you feel the desire to grow (Isabelle) and the desire to control (Gabriel). You experience the eroticism first hand and share the sheer pleasure of the first touch. Phillips made this book of the series truly stand by itself. I did not have to have first hand accounting of the previous to follow this one. Thank you, Phillips. I will be back to read this one again and others, to my utter delight.

I have been a huge Carly Phillips's fan. Once I caught on to her novels, I ordered many of those that had previously been published. I could hardly wait for the next one to be written. The Dare series has been no exception. I'm not quite sure how I feel about the direction her novels appear to be taking. They're becoming a little more explicit than I appreciate - particularly this one with bondage. I know that there is a huge audience out there that appreciates this type of writing. I guess I need to decide if this level of writing is for me.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Carly Phillips is one of my favorite authors and when she announced her latest release DARE TO SURRENDER would be part of the Dare to Love series and
the multi-author Invitation to Eden series I just knew it was going to be a wonderful read.
Gabriel Dare is a cousin to both Ian Dare from Dare to Love and Alex Dare from Dare to Desire. Much like his cousins, Gabriel Dare is a handsome, domineering alpha male and extremely sexy. Even though he has his choice of women he never gets emotionally attached to them and won't keep them around if they start to become attached to him. He has no problem with a woman being with him for his money as long as his needs are met. He's an extremely wealthy and powerful businessman whose focus is to work very hard to give his brother and sister, whom he loves unconditionally, an easy life.
Isabelle Masters is the only woman who has ever been different. From the moment Gabriel met Isabelle the attraction to each other has been intense and mutual. The only thing keeping either of them from acting on it was that Isabelle is Lance's kept girlfriend. Even then, Gabe has possessive, yet protective, nurturing, caretaking tendencies toward her when his usual schtick is to be overbearing and controlling. He knew Isabelle was the one he wanted and just waited until she was free. Even his brother and sister recognize right away he's in trouble with Isabelle.
Despite his natural tendencies to always get his own way, he recognized Isabelle needed to learn to trust him and see that he was the real deal, unlike the slick, cheating Lance who didn't appreciate what he had. Isabelle is an elegantly, beautiful young woman, but she hasn't had the best of luck when it comes to men or life in general. Her self-esteem has suffered for it. When Isabelle finally finds out Lance is not who she thinks he is, she walks out. Walks out with nothing but the clothes on her back. She is strong and determined, but it took that push for her to want find herself again. When Gabe comes to her rescue and makes his desires known she is every bit as attracted to Gabe as he is to her, but she is not about to put herself at the mercy of another domineering man even if he does make her want to melt with just a look. Isabelle feels she needs to prove to herself she is capable of taking care of herself and establish her independence.
Carly has crafted an intriguing story of two people attracted to each other, but at conflicting places in their life, which keeps them apart for awhile. That is until Gabe's patience is gone and he devises a plan to get her back in his life. He issues her an Invitation to Eden, or rather his sister does. Dare to Surrender has it's share of passion, sexy times, and even light BDSM, but it does not overtake the story. And of course, as every great fictional love story does, it ends with our couple prepared to live their HEA. 3.5 stars

Couldn't put it down! I absolutely loved the character Isabelle. I also loved the story of Gabe being so smitten with her and finally getting his chance. Throw in the fact that Isabelle wants to be independent and he wants to care for her and you've got one awesome romance. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Dare to Surrender was not only an excellent installment in the Dare story but also in the Invitation to Eden story. Each of the stories in
the Dare series have been strong but this really tops the list at this point. I love that we are seeing another side of the Dare family that
is just as strong and interesting as the first. Each character is well rounded and even the ones we don't get much on, like Decklan,
we get enough that leaves us begging for more. I also love how the characters in the previous books are used to link in to the family
dynamics but don't take over the story. We see the closeness of the entire family and how they support and stand by each other. This
series is not just a romance based around members of a family, this is also a great play on family dynamics, of how different
circumstances shape the lives of the different members while still remaining true to their base roots of a family. I loved it all and can't
wait for the saga to continue!

I loved the combination of first and third person!
Very emotional but complete story. The only thing keeping me from giving it a fifth star is the length.
Oh, forget it! I will addd a star!

So let's get this part out of the way.. the ONLY thing I did not like about this book was it's length. I wanted more Gabe and Isabelle! They are such a powerhouse couple. I could feel their emotions and connection pouring off the pages. Dare to Surrender is a book I like to categorize as sexy goodness. The heat level is up there, and the book in its entirety is just amazing. In true Dare to Love fashion, this addition to the series gave me another reason to continue reading this steamy saga.
Ms. Phillips continues to impress me with this series. I've been a reader of her's for several years, and have read almost her entire catalog of works. To me, the Dare to Love series brings her writing to another level. I devoured this book in all of one Saturday afternoon. I don't know how to describe what this book made me feel- I wanted more, but I was also completely content with the ending. Does that make sense? I loved it so much I wanted more. I know, I'm being greedy. I just loved it SO much!
So what exactly did I love about it? For one, the strength both characters showed. Gabe in his ability to let Isabelle go when she needed space. And Isabelle being able to swallow her doubt and take her first step back to land of the living . Secondly, their development throughout the book. They've book been hurt in the past and they're gun shy about relationships. From beginning to end the transformation I saw in Gabe and Isabelle made my heart melt. Last, but certainly not least, their complete acceptance for each other. Despite their misgivings, the didn't run from the love they felt. They realized it was a love worth pursuing and made it work. All in all, this book was fantastic. The seduction, the love, the laughter. Gave me the warm fuzzies! I simply cannot wait for the next book in the series :)

Gabe knew the moment he saw Isabelle Masters that she was the one that could fill his empty life. But she belonged to another man and that meant hands off until she is free. He saw her often at social events that they both attended and the more he saw the more he liked. Gabe had given up on women after being burned in his marriage. He had been too young and when his wife died he kept a safe emotional distance so that he would not become involved again that is until he saw Isabelle.
Isabelle has spent the last few years in an abusive relationship that she did not realized how bad it was until the very end. She had found pictures in a file on their shared laptop of her significant other and their next door neighbor in some really graphic sexual positions. Walking out was extremely hard but there was no way that Isabelle could live with him under these circumstances. She left with the clothes on her back and her car. Little did she know that Lance would have her arrested for auto thief and put in jail? Isabelle realizes that this is just a ploy on his part to get her back under his control.
Gabe arrives at the police station where his brother is a cop and finds Isabelle cuffed and held waiting for release. As he talks with her he realizes that she does not want any part of her ex-Lance. She has left him and has nowhere to go and a minimum amount of money her ex had stripped her of everything and intended to reclaim her. Gabe knows that this is his chance and grabs hold with both hands. Isabelle will be his and he will take care of her. But Isabelle has different ideas and refuses to go from one controlling man to another. But given no other choice she agrees to go home with Gabe and stay until she can make other arrangements. Isabelle cannot believe that Gabe is willing to defend her and protect her from her ex-boyfriend, he doesn’t just talk he acts.
Gabe is willing to do whatever needs to be done to help Isabelle feel safe and taken care of but also he wants to help her find herself. Can this alpha male let Isabelle stand on her own two feet? Will Isabelle be able to move on with her life and accept Gabe? Can they both put the past behind and find their soul mate in each other? Or will there be a serpent in Eden?
Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ Stars
Hero –Gabriel Dare: 5 stars
Heroine –Isabelle Masters: 5 stars
Steam: 5 stars
Plot: 4.5 stars
Would I recommend this book: Yes! If you believe in true love and soul mates then this is the right book for you. Love, loyalty and the ability to let another become all that they can be without holding them back is beautifully told in this special book.
Would I read other books by this author: Yes! Love the way this author shows how even an alpha male can support and build up his woman without giving up his maleness. I cannot wait to read another book from this gifted writer.
