Overview

New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts presents the first novel in a dramatic new trilogy.

Margo, Kate and Laura were brought up like sisters amidst the peerless grandeur of Templeton House. But it was Margo whose dreams first took her far away . . .

Margo Sullivan had everything a young woman could ask for. But while growing up along the rocky cliffs of Monterey, she couldn't help but dream of bigger things. The daughter of the Templeton's stern Irish housekeeper, Margo had been treated like a member of the family. Deep down, she knew that money could not but the thing she craved most -- her mother's acceptance.

Maybe things would be different if she could be sweet like Laura -- or had Kate's shrewd head for business. But all Margo knew how to do was be Margo, and that meant doing things her own way -- no matter what the consequences . . .

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
Roberts begins a smooth-talking trilogy about three friends who grew up together among the megawealthy Templeton family of hoteliers, on their beautiful estate in Big Sur: Laura Templeton, the sweet rich girl who is getting marrid as the story begins; Kate Powell, her down-to-earth orphaned cousin with a Harvard M.B.A.; and Margo Sullivan, the housekeeper's daughter and heroine of this first book. Margo (the Bella Donna Woman... "Beautiful, Confident. Dangerous.") returns to Big Sur after being swindled by her manager. She suffers a little, opens a boutique of her old designer clothes and tchotchkes, and marries gorgeous golden Josh, the Templeton scion who has always loved her and who plays a great game of tennis. Roberts who could seemingly write a formula romance in her sleep, adds brains, humor and sex, if not anything by way of plot innovations. (Aug.)

I am in love with this book. My favorite out of the series, although the other two are also must-reads. Margo is human and flawed and you cannot help but adore her, and Josh is everything you could want in a man. They make an amazing pair, and plus its fun to read a novel where the unrequiteted love begin with the guy, as it's usually vice-versa. One of Nora Robert's best!

Ah, the guilty pleasure of curling up with a cup of coffee and losing yourself to these great characters. Formulaic? Yes, with no apology. Predictable? Deliciously so! The difference between this story and the majority of the "bodice-ripper" genre is just that, it has a STORY. The author fully develops her characters and embodies them with characteristics we all want to find in our friends. Pimples and all. Even the "bad" guys' are written so well, you cheer when they all get what's coming to them! I found myself commiserating with the wronged Laura and rooting for her to finally smell the coffee and grow a backbone, feeling sympathy for the career driven and solitary Kate, and wanting to shake both the strong-willed Margo and Josh into reason. The back-story between Margo and her Mom brought tears to my eyes. I don't usually read "romance" novels. I'm a devoted James Patterson page-turner, but I welcome reading more of Ms.Robert's work. If they are all written with the same devotion to story and charcter development, I will be a new devotee. The sex passages were the whipped cream on this delicious latte.

This is a book that I keep going back to. I believe it is the best in the series. You are introduced to the characters and cannot help but to connect to the girls friendship. You respond to Margo's inner struggle to find herself and fall in love with Josh. His love and understanding of Margo is what makes readers read romance. The hero and the heroine remain true without any sappiness. This is a must read and will become a favorite reread!

I really liked this book... I made for a really good read, its one of the type of books that you want to curl up with and read on a rainy day. Nora Roberts is truly wonderful at telling a story and have you right there in the thick of it.

I love trilogies, and Nora Roberts does them best. I've read all of the books in this particular trilogy, have them in my collection, and have read them more than once. If you don't read Nora Roberts you don't know what you're missing.

Among the three books in this series, Daring to Dream is my favorite. The love story between Margo and Josh is so compelling. Each story in this trilogy is a heartwarming tale that leaves you asking for more. I am such a big fan of Nora Roberts. Her books take you to an entirely different place every time.

This book is magnificent. I found myself so encrossed in the story. I am just amazed at how Nora Roberts can make you feel. The romantic scenes with Margo and Josh were so powerful. The passion, desire and love between the two of them was so strong. You could only wish you had that type of love in a lifetime. Bravo Nora you are magnificent.

I have read all 3 books they get better and better. The characters become your personal friends and you will find yourself thinking about them from time to time-they become real. The experiences that each character endures will leave you laughing, crying, excited and scared. You will have a hard time putting this book down. Roberts has done it again with an outstanding book I would read over and over.

I guess I'm used to NR trilogies with vampires and fiends or crazy ex's murdering cattle. This book introduced Margo, Laura and Kate, childhood friends who grew up in the same house. This book chronicles Margo's fall from modeling grace and the beginning of the second-hand store the ladies run. Not too much going on in this book.
