Meet the Author

Julie Kenner has always loved making up stories--particularly those with a happy ending. But she took a convoluted path to romance writing.

After working as a lawyer for eight years, she decided to try to focus some of her creative energy. Since Julie is a happily-ever-after aficionado who unabashedly cries during heartwarming commercials (especially any by Kodak or Hallmark), romance writing was a perfect fit.

When she and her husband moved from Los Angeles back to her hometown of Austin, Texas, Julie started to seriously write.

Though her first manuscript will never see the light of day (it's now in a box in the garage), her second sold to Harlequin Temptation after placing first in the Tampa Area Romance Authors' Contest.

That novel, Nobody Does It Better, was published in February of 2000. Julie loves writing the hot, spicy stories that are the hallmark of the Temptation and Blaze lines, and since that first sale, Julie's sold several additional books to Harlequin (Temptation, Blaze, and Duets).

Julie still practices law full-time, losing herself in her stories on evenings and weekends. When she's not working or writing, she loves spending time with her four cats (Madam, Tequila, Tiger, and Squeaky) and with the neighborhood cats who tend to hang around her house, all of which have been given names by Julie and her husband, Don (such as Black Kitty, Talkie-cat, Blue Eyes, and Fluffy).

She and her husband also love to travel--whether to small towns in the Texas hill country, or to more distant venues such as Ireland, London, or Paris.

Julie's a movie buff, enjoying everything from the lightest romantic comedy to the most action-packed adventure! You can see a list of her favorite romances (and her mother's favorites!) on her web site, www.juliekenner.com.

Julie loves to hear from readers, and you can write her at P.O. Box 151417, Austin, TX 78715-1417 (if you'd like free goodies, send a SASE), or send an email to julie@juliekenner.com.

Susan Kearney used to light herself on fire four times a day. Now she does something really hotÿ- she writes romantic suspense for Harlequin Intrigue.

While she hasn't performed her signature "fire" dive from a 10-meter platform in years, she started diving at age 10. By age 12, she'd won the New Jersey State Championship, and by college, she was a three-time All-American Diver.

While attending the University of Michigan, she earned a business degree that led to her diverse careers as, variously, a partner in a barter business, a real estate appraiser, a mover and renovator of houses, and a once-owner of three hair salons. Finally, in 1995, she sold her first book and became a full-time writer. She's currently plotting her way through her 14th novel.

Of all her careers, her favorite is wife and mother. She married her teenage sweetheart and lives with her husband, two children, and Boston terrier in sunny Florida. She now beats the heat not by diving into cold water, but with her new hobbyÿ- figure skating. Susan also enjoys writing science fiction, screenwriting, boating, and traveling to foreign countries.

USA TODAY bestselling author Julie Elizabeth Leto started her career at Harlequin in 1998 and has since sold over twenty projects for the Signature, Blaze and Temptation lines. Lucky to win a few awards in her career, Julie rates the two she's received from the readers at eHarlequin.com as her favorites -- "Steamiest Book of the Year" for her launch Blaze title, Exposed and "Most Passionate Pick" for her Temptation book, What's Your Pleasure? A Florida native, Julie lives in Tampa with her husband, daughter and a very spoiled dachshund and can often be found visiting with readers in Community. You can find out more about Julie, including information on the mainstream action-adventure novels she writes for Simon & Schuster, by visiting her web site.

Evelyn began writing stories as soon as she was able to hold a fat pencil and spell out words. She's been at it ever since.

Fourth in a family of five children, Evelyn has lived in Virginia, Illinois, Arizona, Louisiana and finally Texas. She currently lives in Texas with her 17-year-old, one-eyed cat and her sweet-tempered cocker spaniel. She recently bought a house with a great yard, largely for the cocker spaniel, but she loves it, too.

In her alternate life, she teaches writing and literature at Tarrant County College in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex.
