Overview

In Jeanne Adams' pulse-pounding thriller, a woman who's lost everything must turn to the man she considers her worst enemy. But he isn't the one who wants her dead. . .

<CENTER>No Escape</CENTER>

Cursed. Bad things happen to men who get close to Victoria Hagan. Now one of them has paid the ultimate price. Her ex-fiance, Todd, has been found murdered in the very church where he left her at the altar--and Torie is the prime suspect. Her only hope is the last person she wants to see...

Ever since he advised his best friend not to marry her and the bride-to-be walked in on the conversation, Paul Jameson has stayed far away from Torie--and resisted their dangerously hot mutual attraction. Still, Paul promised Todd he would take care of Torie. She certainly needs him now...almost as much as he wants her. And that's exactly what a killer is counting on...

I love a book where the hero and heroine start out so completely at odds that there's just no hope. The author does a great job of that in this book--and of making me believe these two could really have an HEA. That said, romantic suspense is sometimes a hard sell for me because I've worked with real-world military and law enforcement people. A lot of authors fall into the cliche of making the hero always do the right thing, and the heroine doing stuff which, to me, casts her into the irretrievable land of Too Stupid To Live. I've found only a few authors who can make me believe the plot, and write a heroine I can both love and respect in a suspense, and Jeanne Adams is one of those. Beyond that, this hero is to-die-for fantastic, and Adams tends to write fast-paced books with a fair amount of action. She's also one of about three authors who can surprise me at the end. I usually pick out the bad guy by half way through the book. Not in this novel. The villain's identity came as a complete surprise. I call that a good book.
