Meet the Author

Hadena James began writing at the age of eight. As a teenager, she had several short stories published in literary magazines. She completed writing her first novel at the age of 17. Hadena graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in European History with minors in German and Russian studies. She has always wanted to be a writer so she also took several classes in creative writing. Hadena’s primary literary genre is action/thriller. She currently writes two series, both use action/thriller. “The Brenna Strachan Series” uses fantasy and the “Dreams & Reality Series” uses murder mystery as its secondary genre. She continues to explore and expand her writing and hopes to soon produce a comedic action/thriller. When she isn’t busy writing or running her business, Hadena enjoys playing in a steel-tip dart league. She also loves to travel throughout North America and Europe. Her favorite cities are Chicago, Illinois and Berlin, Germany. She is an avid reader, reading everything from the classics like Jane Austen to modern writers like Terry Pratchett. One of her all-time favorite books is “Good Omens” by Neil Gaimen and Terry Pratchett. She writes all of her books while listening to music and the bands tend to get “honorable mentions” within the pages. http://www.facebook.com/hadenajames hadenajames.wordpress.com

    Meh.

300 nook pages of mostly back story. I like paranormal as a rule, but couldn't get into this book. The dialogue was so modern and "teenager" sounding--not what I feel supreme beings of unfathomable ages would sound like. The main character was 30 but acted like she was 13 much of the time. Enough complaining! Give it a try and see for yourself!

I was actually quite impressed with this freebie! It was something that I did not have to force myself to finish as some freebies make me do (who likes an unfinished story??). The story, overall, is detailed, well-written, and flows nicely. I did not have any issues with it giving a lot of history because it made me value and understand the characters that much more. The main character, Brenna, is actually someone I could see myself hanging out with even if she is a Demon.... which is not considered a bad thing in this book! It is an unusual world that I wish we lived in. It would make life a whole lot more fun! If you like fantasy/romance/action novels, pick this one up and give it a try. it is free and only took me a couple of hours to read. What is the worst that can happen? You find a new series to get you through the cold winter months?

This book is adult-themed as the main character is 30 years old. Sex is a very basic need, so the fact that this book talks about it really is not a bad thing. It happens people! Get over it! Go into a book with an open mind and open heart and this book will definitely not steer you wrong! Enjoy!

I like the humor and characters in this book. I could image myself there with them. The humor at was linked with Lucifer made him more human than any book I have read with him in it. I could also relate to the trouble Brenna could get herself into. I enjoyed the book very much, it's not often you read a book where sex is only implied and not lengthy in sex scenes.

I love the paranormal/thriller/romance genre. I found this book on the freebies list and discovered a new favorite author. It took me about 30 pages to get caught up in the book but then it was a race to the end. This book is really fun, with a new twist on mythical characters. Definitely recommended

    Loved it!

The beginning is pretty involved but hang in there as she is having to set it all up and it is worth it! Great, exciting new author! I could not put it down! Excited to read the next one...Dark Illuminations.

Slow getting started, but once the real story begins, it is very good.  It has a good balance of action and downtime along with serious characters and funny characters.  The author is very good at character development and they drive the story when it is needed.
