A reprint of the Carpathian novella featuring Riordan De La Cruz and Juliette originally in the Hot Blooded anthology. Set in the rain forest of South America, we meet Juliette, an animal activist of sorts, who has been liberating animals from a secret lab deep in the forest. It is there that she finds Riordan, captured, chained, and injured, and frees him. Riordan is an ancient Carpathian hunter, and the first of the De La Cruz brothers that we meet in the series. We are also introduced to some of the jaguar people, an interesting group who continue to play an important role in the series. An entertaining read from one of my favorite paranormal series.

First, I need to say that I quickly became a huge fan of Christine Feehan and her Dark Series' books. This one, however, is completely lacking in many areas. The comic book format was awkward, to say the least. There are pages that are completely uncomprehendable. The characters lack depth, the plot lacks substance, the story unfolds so fast and hasty that there's no time to enjoy it whatsoever! I think I plowed through this volume in less than two hours and walked away feeling horribly cheated. The characters deserved better than this. It had potential, but fell sadly flat. Thankfully, I am moving on to written volumes and can put this disaster behind me. Sorry Mrs Feehan... this was just, in my opinion, not your best work by far.

I loved the story, however, a bit too short. Christine knows how to weave love, lust as well as the darkness into a compelling storyline.

Ok, I have been enjoying Christine Feehan for quite some time now. I've actually pretty much purchased all of her books, but I have found this particular book not worth the money I spent. First of all it is in a cartoon format, doesn't truly follow her characteristic of writing skills, and is very diappointing to say the least. She has another book of series #14 intertwined in another book and is much better. I was sorry I wasted money on this book

Christine does it again, every series by her reels me in and never fells to catch me. I have every book she has written in each series. I can re-read this one tons of times.

This book...is not. It is done in a comic book style, and really hard to get into....I hope that it will be easier to read in regular story form...don't buy this if your looking for a book...this is a comic book..not the same

This is the manga (aka Graphic Novel) adaptation of the short story Dark Hunger, which can be found in the anthologies Hot Blooded and Darkest at Dawn. While I appreciate the lovely art style and graphics I am not a huge fan of novels being turned into manga. I still loved this one and was happy to add it to my Dark Series collection but my biggest complaint with these types is that they leave things out such as certain scenes and dialogue. This is good but I would suggest that readers interested in Dark Hunger read the word-written Dark Hunger for the full benefit of Riordan and Juliet's story before they read the manga form. FYI: If your having trouble reading it on your Nook you may have to read from right to left not left to right.

haven't read it yet but most manga books you have to read from right to left. So for you all that cant open first page try scrolling right to left remember manga is read from what we call the back of the book first.

All of the stories in the Dark series read the same way. Tortured soul meets mate they get really sappy and end up together. The end.

I actually did like this. People say it isn't the best but it only was a short story. With that said I love both characters!
