Overview

When the wild things are stirring, taking sides could get you killed.

Uprooted to a remote Virginia mountain town by her husband in a failed attempt to start afresh, Cassie Jackson gets the cold shoulder from his reclusive, dark-haired family of "hunters". And only cool friendship from the tall, fair neighbors across the river. When her husband is murdered, and she is shut out of the burial plans, she sneaks into the funeral home to at least say goodbye and discovers what it is her mother-in-law from Hell didn't want her to see. Something oddly...furry.

Silver Grove used to be a quiet town-until Cassie arrived. She has dared to cross the river, and from their first glance, Deputy David Argon found himself drawn to his newly widowed neighbor. Now, in the midst of the biggest crime investigation in years, he feels compelled to shield her from the rising tension among the citizens and the hunters.

Except protecting her means his hands-off policy is doomed to failure. And when another murder hits too close to home, staying out of her arms is mission impossible.

Warning: If you go out in the woods tonight, you're sure of a big surprise-and we're not talking bears of the teddy variety!

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
“Rosemary Laurey has a refreshing and unique voice that makes her a gifted storyteller like the bards of old.”
—Harriet Klausner

“Ms. Laurey proves her skill for the writing of the imaginary here, making one believe anything is possible.”
—LoveRomances.com on Fly With A Dragon

Bloody Awful is not an apt title descriptor as the tale is BLOODY GOOD. The super-fast-paced historical fantasy story line is filled with stunning revelations and unexpected twists yet most significant enables the audience to believe in were-shifters, pixies and oh my vampires.”
—BookReview.com on Bloody Awful (written as Georgia Evans)

    Pixes Rule

I first discovered Rosemary from her Forever Vampires books (read & loved all). Next up were the Brytewood books under the pen name of Georgia Evans—what a treat! I finally got me a Nook Tablet and was able to read some of her ebooks. Next up was Dark in the Woods which I thoroughly enjoyed. It’s about a human that discovers she was married to a werebear & lived in a town of pixies—talk about a reality check!

One of the things I loved about this book, was there was no sex, just to put sex in the book. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against reading about sex in a book. It just seems like sometimes sex is thrown in way too many times, with little plot to bind it all together.

I enjoyed seeing how Cassie coped with her changing reality. Too bad there aren’t more books in this reality, because there were a couple of characters I would have enjoyed reading more about. This was very good book that I would highly recommend.
