LOVE. SEX. MAGIC.

Before her 20th birthday, Gabriella was pretty much clueless about all three. In love with her best guy friend since the age of 14 and too crass and intimidating for most of the male population of Colorado Springs, both love and good sex were virtually a myth.

And then there's magic. Freakin' magic. There's no way that legend could have a place in her less than exciting life. So why after twenty years of utter obscurity do her adopted parents hit her with the ton of bricks that is her true identity? And how the heck is she supposed to accept all this and instantly become what she was destined to be?

Lucky for Gabs, sexy as sin Dorian is more than equipped to help her embrace these new revelations. And while everything about him feels oh so good, she soon learns that there's more behind his crystal blue eyes, chiseled body and exotic beauty. Something dark, menacing and downright unnatural. Yet Gabs is in way too deep to even try to turn away from him now.

Dark Light, Book 1 of the Dark Light Series, is the raw, emotional story of a young woman's journey of self-discovery in a world that was not meant for her. And her scorching hot, lip-biting addiction for the man she can't deny, no matter the cost.

Do you remember being twenty and thinking, " what am I going to be when I grow up"? Meet Gabriella, a young college student, who has no idea what she wants to do in life. She just knows that something is missing. But WHAT? Gabi is given some pretty heavy information by her adopted parents. She is left to discover a whole new world on her own. The unbelievable secrets she uncovers puts her line for the insane asylum, but do they ? Magic? Yeah, Right. Gabi has many decisions to make in life. Already, feeling lost she embarks on a journey to disccover her TRUE self and choose between the light and the dark. Easy, Right? Nothing is ever easy, her personal life continues to pull her in different directions causing friendships to be strained and tested. IN walks Dorian, the mysterious guy who makes her tingle, pulls her in like a magnet and makes her world feel PERFECT. Not everything is as it seems.  This book was an unexpected pleasure. I honestly didnt know what to expect. I love itl. Following along with Gabi as she grows, denies and loves has been an easy task. S.L. Jennings takes you through the motions of Gabi's life with an ease that puts you front and center. The layers built in to the first novel leave you anticipating and contemplating the next move. I have so many theories about what is to be that Im chomping at the bit for THE DARK PRINCE.

And her scorching hot, lip-biting addiction for the man she can't deny, no matter the cost. *Contains strong adult content My Thoughts First I want to say that I absolutely LOVED this story. S. L. Jennings did an amazing job! Dark Light has me hooked from the beginning. Gabriella is a young woman trying to find herself when on her twentith birthday her whole world changes. Everything she thought she knew to be true might not be true anymore. You follow Gabriella's struggle with her new life and the choice between light and dark. Which needs to be made before her twenty first birthday. Which is when her acsention into her power is supposed to take place. Along her journey you meet everyone that is close to her along with the struggle in each relationship after the introduction of her new life. To add even more to that stress Dorian comes along.... Gabriella and Dorian seem to be drawn to each other, but why? They both have secrets that they can't seem to admit to one another. One of my favorite things about this story is the way S.L. jennings uses the HOT STEAMY sex scenes to add to the story. With every mouth watering scene you delve deeper into the emotion between them. They were all tasteful and classy, but HOT! Some of the best I have read in a while. Gabriella struggles with the choice between light and dark. She seems drawn to both, but at the same time she doesn't seem to feel that either choice seems RIGHT. Why can't she just stay neutral? Is that even a choice? Overall this book was awesome. I am (not) patiently waiting for the next book in the series. Thank you for creating such a fun and emotional story....and Dorian. Yum!

Okay so I thought this book was supposed to be about Gabby choosing Light or Dark magic? Its really not its more about her and Dorian having sex through the whole book. Got old really fast.206/306 pages of mostly sex. I wish they would follow the plot they have set instead of incerting sex and having to buy book after book just to figure out what is going on after the sex.

This was 307 pages of a girl talking about how gorgeous this mysterious man looked and not much else. BORING!!

I had to force myself to keep reading this book after Chapter 1 and even then I skimmed a majority of the book. I agree with another reviewer that said this book really had nothing to do with the summary. It was mainly a bunch of useless events and sex scenes and of course this is the first of a 4 book series. I guessed who Dorian was pretty early on so the sex scenes kind of disturbed me a bit... I also had a very big issue with the underage drinking. I hate to say it, but I think I'm too old for these YA books if this even is YA... The characters were just too immature for my taste.

In this book, on her 20th birthday, Gabriella, who up until now has been completely ordinary, learns she is not what she always knew she was, and neither is the world. She discovers her birth mother Natalia was a Dark Hunter of the Light Enchanters and her birth father Alexander was a Dark One from the Shadow, making them mortal enemies. We follow her journey as she tries to get the most out of what's left of her human life, and tries to digest the information that she is both light and dark and will have to choose a side on her 21st birthday, when she becomes immortal and the most powerful of all the Light and Dark. The book is full of important relationships, hidden meanings, "Easter Eggs", flashbacks, glimpses of what's to come, death threats, vows, proclamations, magic, but the most important thing the book is full of is Dorian Skotos (hubba hubba). When reading this book, we really don't know if Dorian is going to be the good guy or the bad guy, but we know he is a sexy guy. And there is not a caution or deterrent strong enough to keep Gabriella, or the reader, away from his yummy Greekness. He gives eye-f[...] and tingling touch a whole new meaning. The unfolding of story is very well-written. I couldn't wait to go straight into book 2. It is a wonderful balance of mystery, fantasy and romance.

Gabriela has just turned 20 and been completely shocked by her adoptive parents. Surprise! You're magical! She certainly didn't see that one coming. Already struggling with herself and what she wants to do with her life; this new knowledge confuses her even more. Armed with her birth mother's journal she starts to discover more about what happened to her parents, what exactly they were and what she is destined to be. While it starts to answer some questions, it also leaves her with even more. Then she meets sexy as hell Dorian and he is the only thing in her life that seems right. She needs him like she needs air to breathe. Sometimes it appears he feels the same way. But there's something more to Dorian and although she senses it, she chooses to ignore it. For now. He makes her feel safe and loved but is he just luring her into a false sense of security? So I finally ventured out of my typical comfort zone for the second time and started another paranormal romance series, and I loved every damn minute of it! There are no vampires or werewolves here as those are not my cup of tea. In this world there are magical beings, some of the Light and others the Dark. What is unique about Gabriella is she doesn't have a "side" and she must choose one by her 21st birthday. This has Dark beings looking for her, wary of what she will choose and how powerful she is destined to be. Her inner turmoil while she navigates life with this new information is real and easy to relate to you. I mean if I just found out that I had supernatural powers, then yeah, I'd be a mess. At this early point, she is torn between the two sides. And her conflicting thoughts over the two men in her life, Jared and Dorian, mirrors that. I liked Gabriella a lot, but at the same time I also found myself wanting to shake some sense into her. It's fairly obvious to the reader that there's something more to Dorian, and even some of the other characters, but she doesn't see it. Or maybe it's more that she chooses not to see it. My own feelings for these two men are polar opposites of each other at the moment. Jared irritated me with his behavior. Gabriella has been pining over him for years while he didn't return those feelings. Now he has decided he wants her and he gets all pissy when she is unsure? Nope, not cool. And Dorian... well it's hard not to love Dorian. His beauty, his dominance (so hot) and his mystery completely captivated me. And while yes he has a lot of secrets, he would tell Gabriella all of them if she would just ask. Dammit girl, open your mouth and ask him! We end on a cliffy with Gabby getting a shocked by a revelation and now I'm dying to get to book two! I really, really loved this book and I'm thrilled I've found another PNR series to enjoy.

I had heard great things about this series, so I decided to give it a go. It had been a while since I had read a PR and I have to say...it was refreshing. I loved the characters and I love where the plot is moving. And I loved the steam! I can't wait to dive into the Dark Prince!
