Overview

Dark matter, the invisible substance that constitutes the bulk of all matter in the universe, remains one of science's greatest mysteries. But what if it actually is nothing more than ordinary matter purposely hidden from our view? What if we are only allowed to see a small fraction of the stars in our galaxy, because the vast majority of star systems are teeming with aliens who wish to remain unseen? Marc Zemin, a brilliant student of astrophysics, is the first human to ever stumble upon this startling secret, when his experiments with wormhole travel cause aliens to land on Earth and whisk him away into space. To his astonishment, the aliens want his help in fighting a colossal galactic war that is rapidly spiraling out of control. But as he struggles to survive from battle to battle across the farthest reaches of the galaxy, he begins to uncover a horrifying conspiracy at play, striving to keep the warring civilizations in continuous conflict with each other. A desperate race against time ensues, as he and a handful of newfound alien friends try to stop the war and confront this mysterious, powerful force bent on destroying all life in the galaxy. But any hope of their success surprisingly appears to hinge on just one thing - whether or not Marc has the strength to overcome his own demons and face the shattering truth about who he really is.

"A sci-fi debut that shows great potential." - Kirkus Discoveries

    Fascinating Book

Dark Matter is such a fascinating book that once started it is very difficult to put down till one has reached the end of the book. One may or may not believe in the existence of `Dark Matter¿ or `worm holes¿ or travels in other than the four dimensions that we mortals are confined to but the exploits of Marc Zemin in the alien worlds are absolutely thrilling. Also, the more different the things are the more they are the same. Millions of light years away people have the same virtues and -----vices. Mendokens, Aftarans, Phyrax or Volonan are no different from us humans in their qualities or weaknesses. Mark encounters all - Love, hate, greed, rivalry, fundamentalism and even extremism in these alien quantum worlds and works for their solutions with zeal and determination which helps him finally to solve his personal problems in this real world also. A truly entertaining story!! I simply loved it.

    A great read

It was hard to put the book down once I started it, and I finished it in about three days. It is an excellent novel, very imaginative, with clever twists in the plot. While a science fiction that revolves around species outside of this Earth, the analogues to current issues, nation states, and interactions across various cultures and religions are very interesting. I would recommend it to every sci-fi buff.

    An instant classic!

Dark Matter is a must read for science fiction buffs. A highly imaginative storyline filled with unique characters and cultures results in an uplifting and triumphant debut novel. Ahmed succeeds in defining the central social and political questions of our time while engaging us in a good old-fashioned adventure tale replete with love lost, courage found and demons faced and vanquished. The reader journeys into outer space but it is inner space that is plumbed. Highly recommended!

    Outstanding

Love this book. It opens eyes to various possibilities. Must say it was engaging & thoughtful. What made it gripping was the back drop for the science fiction. In some senses one gets a feeling that it was the union of Star Wars & Lord of the Rings yet it was original. Ahmed's interpretation & intuitive views on the political & social system is not lost during a very colorful presentation.
