I enjoyed this book so much that I recommended it to all of my friends. I know of at least 3 of them that started with this one and have followed the rest of the series all the way through like I have. Christine Feehan makes you love the characters so much that you just can't put the books down because you want to know what's going to happen to them in the end.

I have the whole series on my nook except for this one! Please, please make it an ebook!

I just finished reading this book and truly enjoyed it. I had never previously read anything by Christine Feehan but I had seen her name floating about the paranormal romance sections, which I've been reading a lot of lately. So I thought I would read one of her books and decided to start on this one first. I love Mikhail and Raven's story, they kind of reminded me of Edward and Bella in the "Twilight Series" by Stephenie Meyer. I don't know if there is a sequel to this book or not but I hope there is because I would love to know what happens to them next. Great read and looking forward to reading more by Feehan.

This is a wonderful book, and the first in the Dark Series. There are three of us reading these books at work. They are a good escape book, and it is nice to be in another world just before bedtime. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes vampires, or just paranormal romance books.

Chrisitne Feehan weaves a world where ancient creatures roam the night in search of a mate before succumbing to the dark beast within. Feehan has you falling for the protectiveness and care of the Carpathian males, while their old-world views soar up the 'Oh no you didn't just do/say that' scale. Action is a constant with contention from within and out, and an ever-present enemy lurking in the shadows. What's a man to do when a woman frees him from centuries spent with only the memory of emotions and color? Okay, maybe not a mere man. But if you are Mikhail Dubrinsky, you command compliance as any with his age and power. Too bad for him Raven is a modern woman with modern ideas.

I love this book. The characters are so good together. I love everything there is about Mikhail. I wish he was real. I wish I can have my own Mikhail. *sigh*

I usually finish books very quickly. This one took a while. I enjoyed it but by the end of the book I just wanted the story to be finished already. My patience with the story was getting thin.

Mikhail needs to meet his lifemate or he will committ suicide to stop himself from changing into a ruthless vampire. Raven enters his head and his prayers for a lifemate have been answered. The only problem is she is human and therefore has many limitations. The risk of changing her into a carpathian is great but with assassins hunting their every move, Raven's life is threatened. Mikhail knows the only way to save her and himself is to change her to one of them and fight the assasins. She is the Carpathian's ONLY hope to continue their race because the males must have life mates to live a carpathian life and they need women to reproduce more female offspring. Women carpathians are a dying breed. Mikhail loves Raven so possesively, he almost suffocates her by controlling her every move, even when she sleeps and how deep. The completeness of his love was beautiful but I imagine if I were Raven I would be very turned off by his obssesive controlling of her. Still, he was an amazing hero and very easy to love! This novel had a strong beginning. I was immediately drawn into the plot but about half way through I felt the pacing become erratic. The story seemed to drag at some points and go too fast at others but I still wanted to find out about these characters because I was in love with them. I became attached to their strong love for each other and felt they were well-rounded characters. If you enjoy love scenes, you will love this novel. Almost every other chapter has a steamy love scene. Every other chapter also had a very violent scene. I am continuing to read the rest of the series because I hear that they only get better. I highly recommend! :)

I accidentally picked up Dark Prince while searching in the grocery store for a good read. I happened to pick up the first in a great series. Feehan does a great job of describing the Carpathian world and culture while examining Raven's idea of the "liberated" woman. Mikhail is an interesting dominating, alpha-male trying to negotiate his relationship with the strong-willed Raven. Feehan does a great job of balancing the romance with the numerous action sequences. This book also sets the next series of books up nicely. The reader is left wanting to read more about Jacques and Gregory. We are also left wondering about Raven and Mikhail's baby and what will become of the boy or girl. This is a romance novel with action packed sequences and steamy sex scenes. Read Dark Desire by Feehan after this one.

I first went to the store to buy dark slayer. I talked to the sales person who informed me that it was part of a very long series that had come out so i decided to start from the beginning. I have read the 1st 4 of the series in the last month. I have loved everyone of them! The only problem Ive had is getting the books. This is not even a problem if the store doesn't have it they order it for me so when I have finished one the next one is waiting. This series is everything I was looking for and more. I wish I would of known about this series before but then again now I don't have to wait for the next book to come out!

I am now on book 15 of this series and all I can say is get me a fan. This is original and exciting and also has enough historical facts to make you wonder... The love scenes are extreme, and well worth the read. My husband doesn't even mind my reading so much anymore!

"Dark Prince" is the first book in Christine Feehan's "Dark" series, and it is typical Christine Feehan-full of vampires and other evil beings, but still with the basic theme of love and compassion among the Carpathians as they battle to preserve their own culture. The "dark prince" is Mikhail Dubrinsky who is the ruler of the Carpathian race as he has been for several hundred years. But the race is dying as it fails to produce enough female children to perpetuate their civilization. Since the Carpathians are paranormal with many vampire-like customs, it is not possible to have relationships with humans. Accordingly, many of the Carpathian men, including Mikhail, unable to find soul mates, are losing their ability to feel and to be compassionate toward their fellow men. Mikhail has become so disillusioned that he can see no reason to continue what appears to be a futile battle for survival, and he is seriously considering suicide when he meets Raven Whitney, an American investigator who is visiting in Romania. Raven is telepathic, and she immediately senses Mikhail's loneliness and pain. She feels compelled to connect with Mikhail in an effort to ease his suffering; Mikhail knows immediately that he has finally found his soul mate. Obviously, there are many problems to be overcome in this relationship between a human and a Carpathian. But their love for each other is so strong that they are able to overcome their difficulties-not easily by any means-and to build a strong and loving relationship. "Dark Prince" is another wonderful story of the triumph of deep, enduring love over the many difficulties faced by Mikhail and Raven as they struggle to build a strong relationship that spans two very different cultures. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves stories of love and the paranormal.

Simply amazing! I must say that this is the first book that I found to be of Paranormal Romance, vampirish at that too, which is what I had been searching for a while. I just happened to come upon this while browsing online for anything "vampirish" and when I saw the cover, I was a bit skeptical. However, once I read the first two pages, unbelievable! I was simply drawn into the world that Christine Feehan had drew in her writing; just by those two pages, I didn't want to put the book down. It simply took me on a journey of finding one's place in this world with someone who can treat you with so much love that it just spills out of the both of you. The characters were great and because of them, I love this book even more. Their chemistry is amazing and their love for each other is something that had me glued to this book, something that every human being would yearn for in this limited life we all live. The male had such a possessive nature that it made me laugh to see how he reacted to his emotions that he had lost overtime. The woman had such a strong heart and will that her strength is what every woman should have when they are overcoming their fears or obstacles. The male's possessiveness, yet unbelievably loving and caring desire for his female, is what drew me to this book, to see how he would react to and control his strong emotions for just one female. I held my breath as suspense kicked in and their love was put to the test. And, of course, the sex scenes were steamy! Christine Feehan is an unbelievably awesome author and I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romance and steamy sex. This is a must read, seriously!

I was dead excited to start flipping the pages of Christine Feehan's first Dark series novel,Dark Prince where it all began. The first lifemate couple is Carpathian prince Mikhail Dubrinsky and his life mate, the gorgeous psychic, Raven Whitney. This novel, understandingly was the first so I felt, even though the plot line was very intriguing and kept me glued on,that it could have been better but it was just as good and certainly Christine has improved with every Dark novel,I have read concrete proof of that with the many books further down in the Dark series line being my favorites.Raven and Mikhail were a sexy couple yet sweet and romantic. You get to meet Carpathians like Jacques,Byron,Gregori and Aidan. However briefly but Christine illustrates the darkness in the Carpathian males very well.So the romance was awesome and did not let me down, the action was unmissable and finally this sets the foundation for the future,a future of hope for the dwindling Carpathians.

While this story tries to introduce a "new supernatural type creature" it did not do much for me. A cross between a vampire but not, a changling, but not I found it a bit off the wall and melodromatic. While the woman in the story is to "save the race of carpathians" even though she is human, she goes back and forth from "I'm independent to I'll die without you and I'm totally dependent on you" and almost is dead or near death than is suddenly all strong again and able to fight or do whatever like 6 times in 1 book. Not to mention she and her "Dark Prince" have the most fabulous sex in the world beyond anything any human could have about 10 times. I felt the book strayed from the actual story line to continually feed on these things. Would I pursue the next book - probably not unless I didn't have anything else to read. Its not a book that that drew me to look for the sequel.
