Overview

There’s something very strange about Raine’s Landing, Massachusetts. In the first place, it’s a problem getting in there … voices start up in your head, warning you to stay away. And then there’s that creepy looking mansion at the summit of the biggest hill, weird creatures roaming through its grounds. Not to mention the fact that the town’s buses operate without a sign of any driver. And that’s when you begin suspecting there might be some otherworldly force at work … like witchcraft, perhaps.

Now Raine’s Landing has a brand-new visitor who’s not intimidated by that kind of power. He’s an ancient demon who has adopted human form. He loves to control people’s lives, and feeds on their fear. And when he starts his deadly games, not even the town’s adepts – magicians descended from the genuine witches of Salem – can stop him. So the job is left to ex-cop Ross Devries and his Harley-riding sidekick Cassie Mallory. They don’t have any magical skills, just their guns and fists and their sharp wits. But will those be enough?

“A hell of a writer, one of today’s masters of dark fiction” – Horror World.

“It will keep you on the edge of your seat. A definite must read for those into fantasy, paranormal fiction, or just a good book” – SF Revu.

“Richards is a master at combining horror, fantasy and humor in a way that will mesmerize readers from cover to cover” – RT Book Reviews Fantasy/SF section.

superb modern day gothic urban fantasy

There really were witches in Salem and they escaped the burning times by quietly moving into the village of Raine¿s Landing. They kept a low profile, but one of them Ragan Farrer was accused by the townsfolk of causing harm to others she was burned at the stake. Before she died she cursed the town and its people saying they and their descendents will never leave Raine¿s Landing. In the present the town is hidden from view anyone who enters leaves forgetting the place exists. Sarauk, a tree spirit inhabits a human body and comes to town and he intends to become ruler of Raine¿s Landing. He is not strong enough to take over the entire town yet but as he makes the inhabitants afraid of what he will do, he grows more powerful in a vicious circle. If the trend continues he will soon overpower the townsfolk making them bow to his wishes. Only Ross Devries might be able to neutralize Sarauk, but though he has received information to succeed from allies, his chances remain grim. --- This is a modern day gothic urban fantasy that mesmerizes the audience into a one sitting read. The characters make the tale as the reluctant hero must battle overwhelming odds to defeat a 200 proof evil villain. With a strong alternate earth world-building (or at least village building) setting, Tony Roberts provides an exhilarating dark hirror thriller. --- Harriet Klausner

    Dark Rain, Book 1

The town of Raine's Landing was cursed long ago, during the time of the Salem witch trials. When one woman was open about her abilities, the town expectantly burned her alive. Her last words were those that keep the people of Raine's Landing from ever leaving and those from the outside to come in. (They must keep a very close and analytical eye when marrying.) When an ancient, powerful, and malicious spirit comes walking by, it notices the small New England town, and decides to have some fun. Ross Devries, an ex-cop, is the only person who lives in Raine's Landing who has never done any magic. Together with his friend Cass, with who they share the same tragic loss, and with the aid of some very strong, influential, and insane adepts and an unknown entity known simply as the Little Girl, will battle the Matchi Manitou or die trying desperately to lift the town's curse.

Lilywolf to Greenleaf and Rainclan! Gathering and Mining!

(Yes you may join Greenleaf if you are still around! I'm not apart of Rainclan but they desperately need cats. Hmm... I might advertise for them. Willowstar you better be ungrounded soon! This is not cool. It's been like a month now! Anyways there's a gathering today at "todd telander" and anyone may go! Use the map in the second result to find the gathering clearing! If Willowstar can't sneak on then someone needs to represent Rainclan and post an announcement at the great oak. Oakpride, when you come back at 9 p.m. then maybe you can along with Foxstar's announcement? The only reason Rainclan hasn't been discontinued from the pact clans is because I know Willowstar and I know she is an active rper when not grounded but we can't wait forever. If something hasn't improved by the end of Christmas break I may have to reconsider. Anyways if you haven't already read the weekly report and vote at the weather report at "todd telander" please do so before they are updated! Below is the trouble Rainclan is facing with the twolegs. Have fun with the mining blasting everything pieces! Remember everyone will seriously be considering leaving at the gathering. I'll see you there!)

As newleaf returns to the land the cats of the mountains can witness the dramatic changes that have come to the territories below them. Where Ashclan and Northclan once resided there is only black earth and a billowing cloud of smoke. Sandclan is now one huge lake and Horseclan seems oddly lacking of the large game that usually resides there. But surely nothing can shake the safety of the mountains. The twolegs so far have been annoying and make hunting harder but it is not enough to fully starve Rainclan. It seems they are fairing the best through this crisis. However that is about to change. Now giant yellow monsters climb partly up the cliffs with an unknown intent. As days pass they begin to carve out rock from the very mountains themselves. Then the explosions start. Huge blasts if rock and rubble are thrown into the air, causing huge areas of the mountain to become exposed. Not only are the explosions terrifying but they also shake loose giant boulders from above Rainclan's camp. With a chilling crack they come tumbling down onto the camp below, crushing and burying anything in their path. Soon the entire camp is simply buried under tons of rock and the cats fortunate enough to escape find themselves surrounded by continuing explosions and the roaring of monsters. This activity will not end and it seems impossible that Rainclan will be able to live in these new conditions. ~ Lilywolf &hearts
