    First book in the series

Dark Season: The Last Vampire by Amy Cross Book 1
I read that these books are stand alone books but if you like series then you will want to know what happens. It definitely ends with you not knowing what happens next.

Sophie Hart is attacked one night while walking home. She is brutally beaten when suddenly her attackers are the ones being hurt and she is then carried away. She finds herself underground and learns that vampires exist, although later on she begins to question her sanity until she meets Patrick once again, the last living vampire.

Dexter Logan, a newspaper man, warns Sophie by telling her of two girls who disappeared in 1959. She finds in the article that one girl had been drained of all her blood. Sophie is torn between what Dexter told her and what she believes in her heart about Patrick. When Vincent, Patrick's father, tells Sophie of her destiny and why Patrick rescued her, she can only try and change her future.

    **Language and sexual situations

    Excellent!

After Twilight, we needed a book to rescue vampires and make them cool again. This is that book. Sexy, exciting and well-written!

    Highly recommended

This is the best *new* vampyr series I've read this year. Ignore the reviews that mention Twilight, it is NOTHING like that.

Must Be Another Teen Vampire Novel

Some of the dialog is entertaining, especially if you think like an adolescent. The 21 year old female offers sex to the last vampire several times just to be ignored and rejected. He doesn't even verbally respond to the repeated sexual suggestions. He doesn't speak at all. Physical violence is the main topic when sex isn't, but the entire story seems to terrminally drag on and on. I might have read parts 2 & 3 if I could find them and they were free. The basic plot and characters are interesting, but need serious development and more action. Maybe this story is written for inexperienced teens. I found it boring.

    Waste of time

How stupid can you make a leading character who's 21? That's what the writer's done. Walking alone at night, leading a stranger to the vampires lair, etc. Is this book for grade school?

    Patchy but at times brilliant

This is a slightly frustrating book, in some ways. It starts well, then there are a couple of chapters where it seems to be veering into Twilight territory, and then suddenly about halfway through it goes really twisted and dark. Not sure if that's intentional or not, but it was definitely worth the read and I hope the second edition comes out soon.

    Read forever

I read this book and it wasn't bad but it wasn't the best book ever you know what i mean right. The author should of added more things so people would understand a few things because if not then readers would be confused during the book and not know what's going on.

    Not very good

I felt so sorry for the author with each word I read. She wants to be a writer and this is a good start but she needs some writing classes, a good critic, and an editor first.

Her characters are completely unlikable. Her use of voice is confusing with her inconsistencies using italics. The lack of descriptions make it difficult to get involved.

And although the characters are juvenile as is the little dialog this is definitely NOT written for a teenage audience. I'm not sure who her intended audience is. As for genre? Paranormal but certainly not romance.

I'm not really sure is this teen fiction or aimed at adults. It

I'm not really sure is this teen fiction or aimed at adults. It sort of lingers in between. Patrick is aggravating in that he doesn't talk at all. He sniffs and cocks his head like my dog does - not typical behavior of a vampire at all. It's also annoying that busy body HUMAN reporter bests two ancient vampires. That would make even Bill Compton angry. The potential is here for a DELICIOUS tale but it falls short with its immaturity. More plot development and back story on the characters would really make this story better. I'm curious enough to seek out the sequels but from what I'm reading here, I guess they're nowhere to be found? Shame.

    A teen story

I did not see the "great read" that others wrote of Sophie came across like a fifteen year old rather than someone who is supose to be twenth-one and Patrick had NO personality. Dexter, I found more interesting and he was
crazy!. Overal, I felt the story was written by a teenager with an active, but uncreative mind: and I love vampire storie

    For anonymos

Im 13 right now, and the book was preety good, but i have to say it has some graphic sexual scene( more than kissing) and other adult type details. I read the whole book and thought it was god, but i only suggest it if you can handle it.

    Okay

It was a good quick read.... but then there was no ending. It was an interesting concept and could have been a decent series but i have no desire to read any of the other books after the ending or lack thereof in this book.

    Nice read, Needs something more.

I understand the author wanted to encourage us to keep reading, However, I felt the book was a little unfinished. To many plot points were left up in the air.
