I couldn't put this book down! What this woman endured and survived is amazing! In an era with no help from the justice systems back then it makes us realise that today there is always help to escape abuse from the hands of parents and spouses. This book is inexpensive and spell binding. You wont be disappointed!

This was an awful story of abuse. I cannot believe that there are people out there that treat their children like this. I know this was based on her story from many years ago and many things have changed, its just disgusting to think that it has happened and still continues to happen to our children.

What courage it must have taken to put such horrible nightmares out there for all to read. Makes me very grateful for having a wonderful childhood. Her life may have been hell but she conquers her demons at the end and is triumphant. You'll root for her the whole book and wish unspeakable acts on her horrible mother. Kudos to you Rebecca Marie

This woman endured so much. I am truley inspired after reading this, she over came so mich it is unbelievable. Some people have commented on the grammar, and although it is not perfect, who cares. She didnt write this in hopes of getting a grammar lesson, she wrote it to tell her story and encourage other victims of abuse to get help! I definitely recommend this, this is the first book I have written a review about, and I read a decent amount, but I had to recommend this!

Very good read Mendez is a strong woman and overcame the cycle of abuse and mistreatment this book touched my heart.I just wanted to jump into her shoes and slap her mother and husband for being such a cruel and nasty human being. Mendez has overcame the statistics and became productive citizen in society. Thank you for sharing your story.

Ms. Mendez is a remarkable person to have overcome the cruelty and abuse that was her life. I can't imagine how she garnered the courage to keep moving forward. I think that people should read this book, not to feel sorry for Ms. Mendez, but to applaude her spirit and to give thanks that laws have evolved to protect children and spouses from the abusers. Thank you for sharing your story, Ms Mendez. You are truly inspiring!

An absolutely horrific, devestating story of the worst possible imagined abuse. I could not tear my eyes away from Rebeccas words written on the page. She captured my heart and had me rooting for her from the very first page. I highly, highly recommend this book to anyone. Beforewarned though, it is very graphic and often disturbing. But I feel this is a very important read.

She suffered such a long line of abuse. We can all put our two cents in and say "she could have left".....well none of us really know. If she had left her mothers house as a teen.. she could have been hurt and abused by strangers. She was a tough cookie in my oppinion. How she survived years of neglect & abuse is a mystery. And as she says...abused kids tend to marry abusers. Well she married a doozy of one. It's good to see was not an abusive mother. From what she writes she must have been a very loving mother. I am happy to see she had the courage to endure and make soething with what is left of her life.

This book was so sad and I cannot imagine how a mother could do these things to a child. I loved how the author did not hold back, she told the story of her life in full detail. Simply amazing how she survived!!
