Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter vampire series makes its long-awaited hardcover debut in this heart-pounding thriller.
For Susan Michaels, renowned investigative journalist, life has turned into one cheesy headline after her reputation was destroyed by a bad story off a bogus tip. Now she is reduced to working for tabloid editor, Leo Kirby, an old friend. Following a tip from a deranged college student, Susan goes to a local animal shelter and adopts a kitty, which turns into a handsome shapeshifter and vampire. (Think "Cat Turns Into Stunning Naked Man in Single Woman's Home.") Naked Man turns out to be Ravyn Kontis, one of the few surviving Dark-Hunters in Seattle; Dark-Hunters are immortals that protect mankind by hunting down Daimons. What follows surpasses even the most lurid tabloid headlines and Susan's wildest dreams -- for good and bad. There are murders, conspiracies, family issues, allergies, and a powerful love relationship.
Longtime Keyon readers will note that Ash/Acheron has a cameo appearance. Two things to add: It's a good thing Susan learned to sword-fight at the Society for Creative Anachronism. Also, never follow a Daimon into a bolt hole. Ginger Curwen
