Overview

Join the Black Hole Gang on a batty science adventure! Matt Miller isjust an ordinary kid. . . ordinary, that is,except that his parents are both brilliant university professors, his mom skateboards to work and he's a member of The Black Hole Gang. Who are they? They're kids who love in-line skating, chess, cracking jokes, chatting with other kids on the 'net. . . and hanging out in an awesome clubhouse packed with beakers, terraniums, plant and insect specimens, rock collections, and a telescope named Boris! An urgent e-mail alerts the Gang—Matt,Rosa,A. J.,and Wei Ling (and Newton,Matt's distinctly above-average mutt)—about a vandalized bat cave in Missouri that needs cleaning up and protection. Soon, the Gang's on their way to a deep, dark caving adventure, packed with cool cave creatures, spectacular stalagmites. . . even a "cave ghost. " With so much fun and mystery underground, you'd be "bats" not to come along!

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Kathleen Karr
The further adventures of The Black Hole Gang takes the intrepid young scientists from Oregon to Missouri in quest of cave saving. Camping as the guests of Lindsey and her grandfather, the four friends explore, clean, and learn how to protect caves from vandals. Along the way, of course, the reader is given a full course in speleology. Kramer's extra-bright, wisecracking kids offer lots of other scientific facts and curiosities along the way, while Torrey's comic book-style illustrations should hold the attention of reluctant young readers.
