3.5 Stars Damn, right when I was really beginning to understand and enjoy this book..BAM: Cliffhanger! I'm really starting to hate these damn authors today! What is the point! Just write one complete novel instead of serials, you'll have much happier readers and followers that way because as much as I want to know what happens with Rook, Jordan, Maze and Coll I refuse to pay for cliffhangers, I'm just so tired of these games...sighs. Overall this was quite a confusing read at first. I had no idea what the hell was going on but as I kept reading, it started to make more sense and it became quite enjoyable. Jordan was funny in a sarcastic kind of way, which I liked immensely. She follows her instincts very wisely, doesn't make stupid decisions which endeared her to me even more as a female lead. Good story line, different from other books I've recently read...again too bad for the blatant cliffhanger...that just sucked monkey balls! SR

I received this book from the publisher through Net Galley for an honest review. I’m not quite sure what to think of this book. It is very short, the story only 89 pages on my nook, yet it took me three days to get through. I can usually knock that many pages off in a couple hours, less if I’m really into the story. So what does this say about how I felt about this story. Hmm. I’m thinking life might have gotten in the way. Some busy days at work, riding my bike, shopping after two weeks without getting groceries, a tree falling down in our pasture…yep, life got in the way. I also think that the story was difficult for me to get into at times or I had trouble figuring out what was going on. Perhaps I wasn’t just paying close enough attention due to the interruptions. The story reminded me of a lot of different ones, however, the ones it reminded me of are all movies. Darkness falls is billed for paranormal romance fans in the synopsis, but to me the story is more sci-fi then paranormal. Sure they have some sort of powers, but much of what is being dealt with is scientific or technological in origins. I think the story could be enjoyed by both fans, but I would not really call it paranormal. The romance label is spot on, though, and well done. Steamy enough, but not over done. They don’t spend most of the 89 pages in the sack, time is taken to develop the relationship. Malcolm and Jordan have good chemistry and their personalities play off each other nicely. The supporting characters didn’t get much development, but it is a short story, so I can overlook not learning too much about them. We did learn a bit about Jordan’s sister, but she was pretty important to the plot. So I mentioned that the book reminded me of some movies, so what are they? Right off I this gave me a bit of The Matrix vibe and eventually elements of Inception filtered in. Not that the book has anywhere near a similar story line as either movie, alright Inception is also about shared dreaming, but the story just reminded me of those movies. I can’t think of a book that I can compare this to, so I can’t recommend it based on if you liked this book try this one too. But fans of either of those movies might want to give it a go. So what did I feel is missing from the story? We never really find out why the “bad” guy wanted Jordan, and I was really curious about that. There is another book after this one, so perhaps that was held over for a plot thread in that story. The start was kind of rough for me. I would have liked a little bit more information about how all the shared dreaming works and maybe some more time in the dream realm. I think also the story didn’t grab me until about the middle, that could be why I had such an easy time putting it down to do other things. If I’m really into a story to hell with everything else, I’m gonna read dammit. This one just wasn’t that way for me. Bottom line, it was an interesting concept, pretty good execution, and great ending. The characters were likable and well written, with flaws, strengths, wise cracks, and growth. The story is short, but feels like a longer book, the author packed a lot of action in to just 89 pages. I think I’m going to give it 3 stars, and will probably look into book two to see what happens next. I hope you give it a try, and if you do let me know what you think.

This book was kind of hard to get into. I liked the concept of this book, but alot of the book i was trying to figure out what was going on. Wasnt sure if rook was a good guy or bad guy. This part of the book was really short 94 pages on the nook. Probably wont be reading the next book in the series.

Review courtesy of Romance Junkies Jordan Lane works for a market strategy team. She is cautious and reliable, the polar opposite of her younger and wilder sister Maisie. When Maisie voices an interest to try Reve, Jordan refuses to let her go alone. The experience opens Jordan to a new life path wrought with danger and people who want to exploit her unique ability. Rook is a Chimera agent. He needs a change of pace, so Rook transfers from tracking psychotics across the dreamscape to recruitment, in order to escape his nightmare’s manifestation. He uses the Reve to scout and mark possible candidates. Jordan surprises and intrigues him.  Jordan starts out bland and blasé but as the story progresses, her character and personality deepens. I found her dedication to her younger sister admirable and touching. It really states the type of person she is. I like her caution towards Rook, how the two did not connect right away but when they do connect, it is in degrees. Rook mystifies me. He is tortured but from actions committed in his teens. His interactions with Jordan made me laugh. She proves to be the perfect fit for him, the ideal person to help him accept his skeletons and learn to live.  I got a little lost, and a small bit bored at the beginning. However, once I assimilated to the world, its lingo, and learned about its uniqueness, the momentum of the story picked up and I began to enjoy the story and its characters. What I love most about the story is the uniqueness of a side character’s name but then I am bias because it is my husband and my oldest son’s name. DARKNESS FALLS stands out from other paranormal stories with its distinctive content. The world building is fresh and remarkable and I like how it varies from the other stories available.

Malcolm Rook was recruited by the Chimera as a teenager. Now Malcolm is hunting the Reve for new recruits with the rarest of talents. Jordan Lane is headed to the Envoi for a so called girls night out with her sister, one that she has spent everything she has to attend. Jordan has read so much about this place and it not so sure this is such a good idea. As they delve into their dreamworlds Jordan and Malcolm's paths cross and it is not long before Jordan realises this is more than a girls night out. With her sister mixed up in something dangerous, Jordan is determined to find out what is really going on. Malcolm knows it won't be long before Jordan become the target but will she trust him and can he trust himself. I found myself enthralled within Darkness Fall's storyline from the very beginning and fell in love with the strength and emotions of the characters and their stories. Praise to Erin Kellison for an amazing start to a new series and I look forward to the next instalment.

4 - "Wake up to the truth!" Stars! I can honestly say I have never read anything like Darkness Falls before, and I mean that in the good sense... Sleep and dreams, are something that we all have in our lives and Erin Kellison has taken those two things and given them a uniquely dark and fictional spin. This is a weird one for me in that although I knew and understood exactly what was going on whilst I was reading it, trying to explain the book in a review is proving difficult. A lot of the main plot points would be considered spoilers, but to say that Malcolm Rook and Jordan Lane’s initial meeting is about as far from your average introduction as you can get would be an understatement. Both on a ship to dreamland, so to speak, one is nervous as it is their first experience in the Rêve, the other is essentially talent spotting, that talent may not be something it’s owner is essentially aware of, or will wish they had once they learn of it. "Sleep is an alteration in your brainwaves, and Rêve is simply getting everyone on the same frequency." Although based on truth, Jordan quickly comes to realize that there are an awful lot of grey areas that the general populace are not told about when it comes to Rêve, and through her initial association with Michael she starts to understand that she may have more in common with him in relation to this than she initially assumed. She’d known him all of thirty-six hours, and for most of that she’d feared him. Their attraction is instant, their connection intense, and while the world, dream and otherwise is irrevocably changing for Jordan, her snark, confidence and level-headedness, shows Malcolm just how special this woman is. Darkness Falls, is certainly the setting stone for the beginning of the Reveler series, you are introduced to several other characters of note in Jordans’ sister Maisie and Rook’s boss Steve Coll, this book ends on a cliffy, but bearing in mind it’s a series of eight and all have been released, there are no worries about dipping right back in, with the next book Lay Me Down which continues this unusual and interesting adventure. ARC generously provided, it was my pleasure to provide the above honest review.

The first book of the Reveler series is an awesome taste of what to except (and love) through the next installments. In Darkness Falls, we meet Malcolm Rook. He works for an agency that oversees the legal side of a dream world, where people pay big money to indulge in shared dreaming experiences. Everything a person experiences in these dreams are heightened. So when Rook meets Jordan Lane – a gifted woman he seeks to recruit, it’s impossible to deny to the chemistry between them. And why should they – it was hot! But as Jordan learns about her abilities, they’re also being sought after by menacing nightmares in the dreamwaters, and also trying to help Jordan’s sister out of a dangerous situation she’s gotten herself into. Darkness Falls definitely is a gateway into a dark and sexy paranormal series. The story is very original and engrossing. I’m making my way through the series as quick as possible! 3 1/2 STARS Darkness Falls is book 1 of the Reveler series by Erin Kellison. It tells the story of Agent Malcom Rook and Jordan Lane. Agent Malcom Rook is assigned the task of going to dream parties where people gather to meet and find each other in their dreams. He goes to these parties looking for gifted people called Talents with the ability to manipulate or master other peoples dreams rather than just participate in their dreams as more of a watcher. Jordan goes with her sister to one of these parties having no idea of how very talented she is in a dream. However Rook realizes she is a talent and pursues her I wasn't really sure about this story idea. As powers go I don't really think this one would be all that great to have. However I liked the world Ms. Kellison created for her Reveler series. It was different, unique and unexpected. The characters are strong and mostly well written. Though I have to say that I didn't like Rook. I found him to be a little lacking and a bit one dimensional. The rest of the characters are much more likeable and complex. It's because of my not liking Rook that I am giving the book 3 1/2 Stars. The main characters have to be written in a way that you connect with them or care rather. That's important in a story. At least to me anyway. If I don't care about the character I tend to not care about what happens with them. And that leads to not reading the book. That being said, as I stated I did like the rest of the characters and the over all story enough that I want to read the next book. I recommend this book. I liked it. I think you will also. “Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review” L.

Book gifted for an honest review This is my first Erin Kellison novel.  Great characters and story. Can't wait to continue the story of Jordan and Rook. This does have a cliff hanger so be prepared for it. Reader is pulled in and out of the dream world that gives this novel some depth.  This was a quick read and kept me focused to complete it in less than 24 hours. Enjoy!

This is my first book by this author. I liked the "dreamscape" setting because it was so completely different from anything else I have ever read. Loved the fact it was a hot and steamy romance and cannot wait for the next book to meet the next characters. Will certainly pursue this authors book. An Excellent Book Contemporary, Paranormal Romance California Malcolm Rook is an agent that hunts people with a very rare talent. The talent to master dreams. He soon finds Jordan Lane who is undeniably gifted. Jordan though is wary of the mysterious Rook. She resists his pursuit as long as possible. The dreamwaters that they enter is exhilarating and hard to resist though and their attraction soon ignites their passions. But when they delve too deep they end up stirring a nightmare that if they don’t want to be lost forever to darkness they will have to defeat. This is an interesting and very different paranormal story. It also makes for a story that is hard to put down. As it ends in kind of cliffhanger it will also have readers wanting to read the next book to see just where this one will take them. The premise is one that makes for a story that in a class all its own. This is definitely one worth checking out. Received a review copy

Darkness and Dreams... I have to say that the book took a little time in pulling me in... but once it did, I was caught! Picture a world where people can be aware and function in the dream state... some so gifted to be able to control what is going on around them... having surprising abilities. This is what Jordan Lane gets caught up in because of her younger sister. Agents, danger, nightmares come to life... this all unfolds in a truly interesting and amazing world within this book... add in some romance and I found I could not put it down. It does leave things a bit open at the end and has me very curious in seeing where the next one takes us readers. Looking forward to more in the Reveler Series. * A Copy of this book was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review!

3.5 STARS. I WAS GIFTED THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW. I found this story to be a little slow at first. Once I understood where the story was going I started to enjoy it. I enjoyed the banter between Jordan & Malcolm and feel that they are clever enough to avoid pit falls. Maze on the other hand will fall into it every time. Maybe Steve can keep her out of trouble. Hope the next story is longer.

The story never quite got where it was going. There were a lot of assumptions made throughout, and not clear explanations. If this is to be a series, then I need to be clear who and what the characters are. Still not sure on Maize and Coll.... exactly what do they do? A little more attention to the background information and this could have been a good story. Also, I didn't really get a resolution. There was an issue, and then the story just kind of ends.

Fantastic new world to explore, a little different from the usual paranormals. The dream world isn't new to paranormal romance but this level of scifi/psychic paranormal that takes place so heavily in the world is reminiscent of that movie with Leonardo DiCaprio I never actually saw. It's fun, a little dark, but shows a lot of potential for an interesting series.

I really enjoyed the story line in this book. I was initially a little confused, it felt like you were thrown into it without much of a background given. That being said, I finished it in one sitting and just wanted more. I think it was a great introduction to the series and very unique.  The characters were easy to relate to and their connection was hot. It felt like a tease and I can't wait to read more. *copy gifted in exchange for an honest review*
