    Fabulous Book and Awesome Series

DARKNESS SEDUCED is the follow up to DARKNESS AWAKENED in Stephanie Rowe’s newest series. Her Order of the Blade, Primal Heat Trilogy is everything we’ve come to expect from Rowe. She creates her own paranormal world with an abundance of imagination. Her quirky jargon is fun and modern. Her characters, as always, are well drawn and either loveable or hateable depending on their roles. I loved DARKNESS AWAKENED and was very pleasantly surprised to find DARKNESS SEDUCED was even better. Rowe can create alpha males who are strong and capable but can still make room for love. It’s not easy for them but once they meet their preordained mates, fight destiny a little, fight the enemy a lot, they are capable of great love and tenderness to their women. Gideon is no exception. Because of an ages old prophecy, also based on well observed facts, Gideon and his fellow Order of the Blade warriors, the elite of all Calydons, have been forced to kill the soul mates of Order members for thousands of years. Failure to do so results in the Order member going insanely rogue, the death of many innocents and eventually the Calydon’s death at the hands of his sheva (true soul mate). Order members have assumed the unpleasant task of killing the shevas to save the innocent humans who will be caught up in the tragedy with only one, so far, successful exception, Grace and Quinn from DARKNESS AWAKENED. Like Grace, Lily has a much needed skill in the fight against the release of the super evil Ezekiel. Since they need her assistance the Order is forced to put off killing her, much to Gideon’s and her relief.
Rowe’s women are strong and capable and Lily is no exception. She’s a professor, she’s smart, she’s sexy, incredibly giving and she’s a very talented supernatural being in her own right. She fights hard and hasn’t let two years of captivity and brutal treatment break her. Gideon is typical Order. He’s also smart, physically and mentally strong and sexy as hell. Lily fights the attraction but destiny is too strong and she soon realizes Gideon is not the cold, heartless warrior he’s always acted like he was. Her research never revealed the truth of his tortured soul. Once she sees the man inside, she realizes she can and does love him. Gideon feels a love for Lily that goes beyond anything he felt for his first sheva and his feelings for her even transcend her being his sheva.
The ultimate mating of the sheva to her warrior is another example of Rowe’s women’s strength. They must do as much to complete the steps to bonding as their men. It’s amazing that her women are ultra-feminine but able to do any task required of them, including kill. They can take the evils of the world on with their men. I love that these ladies are not damsels in distress waiting on the sidelines for the men to win the battles.
DARKNESS SEDUCED is a fabulous story with all the right elements: a strong sexual attraction, a struggle against that attraction, a tender love, a horrendous battle against unimaginable evil and a fight to save the world. You’ll love Lily and Gideon. This is the kind of story you can’t put down because you’re so anxious to see what happens next. Will they find love? Will the save the world?
The book’s climax is exciting and tense and sets up DARKNESS SURRENDERED beautifully. I cannot wait for this next book!

In the second book of this series, Stephanie Rowe brings us back to the world of the Calydons, Illusionists, and now, Satinkas. All new paranormal beings that make the journey even more exciting because the characters are something all new that draw you into their world. You will remember each character and their story and will probably not be able to put the book down. (I know I couldn't!) It's been a long time since I had a book so win me over that I couldn't go to bed until I finished it, but this whole series has. In this book, you get to know Lily and Gideon and find yourself rooting for them every step of the way. One of the best paranormal series I have ever read, I highly recommend this series, and all of Stephanie Rowe's books! :)

This is the 2nd book in the Order of the Blade series. These, in my opinion, are not stand alone books.

This book picks up where the 1st one ended. Lily Davenport has been kept prisoner and tortured for 2 years by Nate Tipton, a crazy Calydon warrior who was under the influence of the evil Ezekiel who has been imprisoned in a magical prison for over two thousand years and wants out. Lily was a professor who was a renowned Calydon expert who wrote books and did seminars about the Calydon warriors who she despised. One warrior in particular she hated the most. Gideon Roarke. When Lily’s grandfather went rouge Gideon had to kill him and also his wife. All of this was done in front of their son and daughter. Year’s later Lily brother who was also a Calydon died in the crossover. Lily has always blamed Gideon for the destruction of her family. But Lily also has a tie to the Calydon warriors that she cannot break. She is a Satinka. Satinka’s have earth magic and there magic seeks out a Calydon who is worthy of her. Lily is a extremely powerful Satinka and her magic test all Calydon warriors she comes in contact with to see if he is the one. Her magic when given to a Calydon warrior makes that warrior even more powerful. After not hearing or seeing anyone for days while locked in a basement a rogue Calydon breaks down the door. As Lily tries to escape she is rescued by Gideon but as she doesn’t trust any Calydon’s and while Gideon is fighting off many more rogue Calydon’s she escapes. But Gideon catches up with her again and saves her from more warriors trying to kidnap her.

Gideon Roarke is known to be the most fearless warrior who is stone cold when it comes to emotions, that even when he watched his sheva being killed in front of him 500 hundred years ago it didn’t affect him. We find this to not be true. His internal struggle with his emotions when he first meets Lily confuses him. He has already met his sheva he shouldn’t be having the feelings he is for her. But Lily with all her knowledge of the Calaydon warriors knows that she is his sheva. This is a blow to both of them as Lily has sworn to hate Gideon and Gideon doesn’t understand how he could have a 2nd sheva and doesn’t want to go through losing one again. Even after finding out that Gideon was the one she had sworn to hate her whole life she realizes that she is not only Gideon’s sheva but also his Satinka.

For most of this book we watch as both Gideon and Lily struggle with this. They both had preconceived notions about each other and after they both tell the other about their tragic past they realize they were both wrong. Gideon’s internal struggle was very touching to watch.

As we know from the ending of the 1st book Frank Tully (who was working with Nate) had kidnapped Drew who was Dante’s son. We find out that Frank is really an illusionist like Ana and Grace and that he played a big role in what happened to Ana and Grace’s parents. Ana is confused by Frank and keeps going to him and when he ask her to get the knife with the ancient markings on it she does not knowing that Frank has evil intentions for her, Lily and Drew.

In a huge showdown at the end of the book we find out what Frank’s true intentions are. We also find out some answers to questions that we were left with in the first book but things are far from over. We will have to wait for the 3rd book which is sure to be the best.

Stephanie sucked me back into the world of The Order of the Blad

Stephanie sucked me back into the world of The Order of the Blade. Amazingly enough I enjoyed book 1 just a little better then book 2. Although I still really enjoyed Darkness Seduced.

Gideon is the tough as nails, has no feelings, totally impossible to kill warrior that everyone fears and all the other warriors look up too. So when Gideon is asked to go save Lily from her prison, he treats this like any other mission. Get in, save the innocent, kill some rogues, and get out. Gideon has the best plans that is until he see Lily being attached by a rogue Calydon. In that moment everything about this mission changed.

Lily has been held captive for the last two years by a monster. He has abused her in everyway possible. But now days have passed and he has not returned from his latest battle. Lily hopes that he is dead, but that also means death for her as she is locked in the basement of his house.
All Lily knows is that she needs to find a way out. She has not survived this long to die now. Plus she know if she stays a greater evil will be coming for her. What Lily doesn’t know yet is that her savior is waiting for her on the other side of the door to freedom, she just has to get to that door.

I enjoyed Gideon & Lily’s story, they are a great couple. Both never back down from a challenge. Both are fiercely protective and determined to save the people around them. But both will have to learn to trust, love and forgive before they can move forward

Darkness Seduced has a great set up for the next installment in The Order of the Blade series Darkness Surrendered coming out May 15.

Huge thank you to Stephanie Rowe for letting me read Darkness Seduced.
