I like Bane. He's a get the job done kinda blue collar Sith. It is great to hear about his quest for knowledge and power and the beginning of the "Rule of Two" that leads to such powerful Sith.

You will love these books. Darth Bane is an amazing character and it is great to see this very important time period of the Star Wars universe explore in such depth. You will be hooked from Book One. And the finale is amazing. The only thing that could make these books better is if there were more of them! Must reads!

A very good read. I'm not half way through and I think it's awsome. It shows you that some are MEANT to be sith and some are MEANT to be jedi. It also flies in the face of the idea that the way of the sith is instant power. It makes you rethink the balence of good and evil.(Especaly book 1) 1 person mentioned the that names like Kaan and Hoth are weird. I think they are well chosen. Kaan is often used for an all-powerful,evil person.(such as in star trek)and once someone real who fits the same description.(friend of magalian) This describes this Kaan as well. Hoth is harder to unravel, but I think it means he is cold on the outside, but willing to let live(like in episode V with Luke,Leah,Han,Chewey, and some other rebles) A great read. I definetly think you should get it.

Having never read a Star Wars book, I'm glad I selected this series to be my first. I'd always wondered about Darth Bane, as he is referenced in several movies and tv shows. I was thoroughly impressed with Karpyshyn's story of the evolution of a young man named Dessel from his bleak existence as a cortosis miner to become the most powerful Sith Lord in the galaxy. The Sith order once teemed with followers, but it took for Darth Bane to ultimately realize the full potential of the Sith, wield the awesome power of the dark side as never before, and re-establish the "rule of two". I can't wait to read the second part in this series. Rule of Two picks up 10 years later from the climatic events of the first novel. Darth Bane continues to train his apprentice; although Zannah has missteps, she recovers seemingly well and shows that she too is a dark side force to be reckoned with. Karpyshyn did a good job of overlapping multiple character perspectives which helped to fully immerse you in the story. I can't wait to read the third, and final installment in this series. I was NOT disappointed with the ending of this trilogy. Dynasty of Evil focuses on the inevitable duel between Darth Bane and Darth Zannah. There are other story lines told that have a connection to the overarching premise of the book; Karpyshyn does a great job of weaving them all together and fully developing his characters. The action scenes were very well written and I was sitting on the edge of my seat as I rushed to finish this novel. I LOVE how the book ends. I have my theories on who really won that duel...

Worth reading. Explains the story behind the Yoda line from the movies. Yoda believed a Sith Lord was still at large. “Always two, there are,” he said. “A Master and an apprentice. No more, no less.” Rule of Two explained: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Rule_of_two
