Just saw this guy on C-SPAN Book TV and am sad that he has absolutley no understanding of science, evolution, or the arguments of the leading popularizers of science. He claims that, because some scientists have found ways to discuss evolution to the religious, that they now advocate teaching a certain type of religion in the school. This is wrong. Many far-right fundamentalist religionists equate evolution with 'materialism' and atheism. That you can't understand evolution to be the way things are and be religious. This is patently false, as Eugenie Scott and Ken Miller demonstrate. There are theological defenses of descent with modification. Not every scientist is an atheist. But this guy takes everything out of context to argue that evolution 'Darwinism, as he puts it--the boogeyman!!' is materialistic and therefore enjoys no theological defense. Watch the CSPAN lecture. Don't buy this book. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
