Overview

Need an idea for what to do on a date? Dinner and a movie is fine once in awhile. But variety and new experiences heighten our attention to make time together more enjoyable and more memorable.

Date Ideas describes over 100 things to do on a date, many of which are out of the ordinary. A variety of ideas are given. The emphasis is on simple, inexpensive activities that give you and your date a chance to get to know each other.

The book is written especially for dating couples looking for enjoyable activities to make their time together pleasant and worthwhile. The ideas in the book can also be used by married couples wishing to keep fun in their relationship.

There are short, to-the-point sections with tips on topics such as where to meet people, how to ask someone to go on a date, and how to make dating and relationships more enjoyable.

The ideas in the book go from a picnic in the park to renting a Forest Service lookout tower (yeah, you really can rent them in five states). We tried to only present activities that would be accessible to most people, but we just had to include a few of the odd ball ones that were too good to leave out. Hopefully you will find the ideas as good as we think they are.

Meet the Author

I started the web site www.leisureideas.com to give people ideas for ways to have fun. Since 1998 the site has provided a variety of reality-based amusements and fun activities. Visitors to the site are encouraged to use their imaginations and whatever happens to be available to discover new ways to enjoy themselves.

I write to discover insight on how to pursue playfulness and a sense of wonder. My method is to use the ideas of others, add anything my own experiences can contribute, and use imagination to add new ideas for ways to have fun.

I like solitude and quiet, enjoy reflection and am health conscious. I'm very frugal and prefer conserving personal resources instead of pursuing earning power in order to consume and possess. I like the unique and new but also look to the past for wisdom and perspective.

I grew up on a small farm. The weather and the natural world are very much a part of living on a farm. On a farm, everyday observations demonstrate how plants and animals grow and develop and how weather and climate interact with living things. Anyone growing up on a farm knows that we are very much dependant on how much it rains, when it rains, and how warm or cold it is. We are dependent on all that is around us.

Good writing explains what is around us. We are warned of dangers and informed of possibilites. We are exposed to what is extraordinary and unexpected. And in the process we are entertained.

Reading is a wonderous experience that inspires us to regard our real world with more awe. Good writing rouses the spirit, encouraging us to improve our lot using imagination and perseverance.
