Dating Rocks!: The 21 Smartest Moves Women Make for Loveby Steve Nakamoto
Dating Rocks is a 240 page dating manifesto that outlines everything a woman should do to find, date and keep a man -- from being aware of her physical appearance to honing her listening skills. The best part of this book is Nakamoto’s wit as he helps the reader along. As a former Dale Carnegie instructor, personal development trainer, and international tour director, Nakamoto knows how to tell a story. There’s a rather amusing tale of how he and a friend had sworn off all women as gold-diggers since all of the women they encountered at an upscale nightclub would only go out with them once. A friend of theirs tells them, "The problem isn’t that these women are gold-diggers. It’s that you guys unfortunately can’t afford them." Lesson to be learned from such wise words: don’t try to place the blame for your lousy love life on someone or something else; be proactive, take control of your love life, and good things will follow. The book follows a rigid but successful format. Each chapter begins with a nifty quote from a major author or artist, past or present. For instance, Chapter 13 titled "Competition," opens with a quote from Margaret Halsey: "The great disadvantage of being in a rat race is that it is humiliating. The competitors in a rat race are by definition rodents." An honest male prospective that summarizes what is to be learned in the chapter follows these quotes. Nakamoto also includes an anecdote from his life such as the email he received from a woman complaining about an aspect of her dating life, followed by a list of steps on how to successfully accomplish whatever the theme of the chapter happens to be. Nakamoto, is not new to the "how to catch a man arena." His previous book, Men are like Fish: Everything a Woman Needs to Know about Catching a Man," was a funny, intelligent look at the dating scene with tips on how to not only initiate a great relationship but enhance the one you are in. In his latest book he offers an honest and refreshing male perspective that any woman can use if she finds herself in a dating slump. Unlike many of the dating books out there, he doesn’t send the message that women should wait for a man to decide what he wants to do about being together but instead he teaches women how to be proactive when it comes to their love life. He tells them to put themselves first -- their needs, wants, and desires. Ladies, you can’t get any better advice than that. In Dating Rocks you will find no catchy phrases and no antiquated ideals, just good solid advice (that may or may not net you a man), but along the way will provide you with a great deal of fun, insight and personal growth.

Review: Dating Rocks by Steve Nakamoto Ladies of all ages, listen up. Dating Rocks by Steve Nakamoto is the must have relationship book for every home library. Mr. Nakamoto begins with the premise that a woman must know what she’s looking for in a relationship, and prepare herself for that eventuality. He supplies us with twenty-one smart moves to ensure that happiness and pleasure light up her life. In his no-nonsense approach to dating, the author places the responsibility for her life firmly on each individual woman. Then he sets out to guide the dater, precept by precept, to making the best decisions she can to attain and maintain lasting love. This is a book for all ages. Parents and grandparents will be happy to have an inclusive reference book close at hand. Dating Rocks will refresh their memories as to important factors to consider as they guide their children and grandchildren into and through the dating world. Curious teens or pre-teens would do well to take note of the advice Mr. Nakamoto presents as they begin the dating process. Gratefully, the contents are presented in modern yet tasteful language. Self-preparation for dating, selection of a suitable candidate to date, behavior on dates, and male perspectives help define the topic and emphasize the serious nature of the dating process. Women in their twenties and thirties, seeking a mate to start a family will find Dating Rocks invaluable in its details about meeting like-minded men and characteristics to seek out for a successful union. This book also addresses issues for women in their forties and fifties and beyond who are looking for a new relationship or who haven't yet found their soulmate. They may need to release baggage, false beliefs, or jack up self-esteem. Dating Rocks has advice on all these topics and even covers the critical topic of children; his and hers. Mr. Nakamoto does not leave out widows, either. He addresses the special considerations relationships encounter in later years, while giving assurance that male female relationships are normal at any age and desirable, even. Wonderfully inclusive, Dating Rocks is a timeless, invaluable resource to own.
Not clinical at all, the male point of view makes all the difference in this discussion of dating. Unlike entities do not attract per Steve Nakamoto. Seek out those with similar interests/ideas/preferences. The best way to do this is to be where they are doing what they do. Don't actually seek love. Pursue what you love, and it will find you. Makes sense to me.
I wasn¿t sure what to expect when I picked up this book. I¿m skeptical of relationship books in general. The subtitle, ¿The 21 Smartest Moves Women Make For Love¿ kind of scared me into thinking that this book might be an updated version of ¿The Rules¿ in disguise. Thankfully, it isn¿t. I was also relieved to discover this is NOT a book about how to meet men. Instead, Dating Rocks combines psychology, self-help, and practical advice, all in one entertaining and enlightening book. Dating Rocks is not simply a book about dating. The book gives realistic suggestions for making better decisions, improving self-esteem, and staying true to your heart. I wish I had read this book years ago. Each chapter of Dating Rocks features stories, quotes, advice, and more. The author, Steve Nakamoto, encourages women to take responsibility for their past mistakes and take the future into their own hands. Dating Rocks teaches women to be more productive and proactive in the choices they make. Making smarter decisions will yield positive results. I think this book should be required reading material for every person, male or female, whether single or married. Dating Rocks was written by a man, which is a nice change of pace. So many women get their advice and opinions about relationships ONLY from other women, which means they lack the insight that could be gained from an honest and unbiased male perspective.
As I was reading Dating Rocks, I realized how blindly we go into dating. I was thinking back to my dating days and wondering why some of these things didn't even occur to me and my friends. Not only that, but there is so much more we could never have known on our own. There would have been less wasted time and heart ache all around. ~ ~ ~ ~ Dating Rocks offers new foresight on all the bad dates that can be avoided and what will attract more rewarding dates. Steve Nakamoto brings to light things we don't normally think about while dating such as how the things we do come across to men and how we can determine, in a very short time, whether a man is worthy of a future date. He gives us a step-by-step strategic approach to dating that is easy to follow. ~ ~ ~ ~ I also enjoyed the lighter side of the book. The cartoons are a fun way of bring life to the subjects. And a huge bonus to Dating Rocks is that it's full of insider tips about men. This book will give even the most nervous woman the confidence she needs to make smart decisions about her love life.
DATING ROCKS! is great! Imagine having a personal dating coach that you can carry around in your bag. Steve understands you but also has valuable insights from a male perspective. Particularly helpful in saving you from screwing up a potentially good relationship. A must read for single women!
