I love medieval history, and I loved the blend of history, romance, and time-travel fantasy in this book. Meg is a young single mother of a two and a half year old girl. She's endured an abusive relationship with her now-dead husband, the father of her daughter, and has little reason to trust men or believe in romance--until she's hurled back through time to the court of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd, the last Prince of Wales. Coming from the future, Meg is able to warn Llywelyn of the dangers in store for him and help him navigate the complex politics of the time. I loved how historically based this book was and what a vivid picture it gave of the time period, but I think my favorite part was watching Meg grow as a character. Medieval Wales wasn't a place where women had great power--and yet it's in exactly this setting that Meg truly overcomes her past and grows into the strong, capable women she was meant to be. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

If you like Outlander or The Winter Sea you will love this. Halfway through this book, I bought the rest of the series. I loved it and hope she writes more of this series. There are no sex scenes, so you can share it with someone younger, but it doesn't seem like a kid's book. The characters and story are very well done.

This was another one of my books that I just happened to come across while searching for books to read on Barnes and Noble. It was a fabulous book to read and the story of time travel is always a favorite of mine. So this book was able to caputer me in both of my favorite areas of time travel and medeval times. I have gone on to purchase the next 2 books and am currently reading Footsteps in time which continues the story but with a different twist. Dont want to give away a spoilers so that others can read the books and find out for themselves. Great story and excellent writing.

This reads more like historical fiction than time travel romance. There is no real character development and almost no interaction between the main characters. No romance to speak of at all other than two quick kisses. The entire book I was thinking to myself that the author must have read and enjoyed the Outlander series and tried to duplicate it - but didn't seem up to the task.

I had high expectations from this book because of the positive reviews. The story was weak, character development poor, dialogue juvenile and there were so many "huh?'s" I thought I was missing something from the story, missing some kind of connection from one chapter to the next that I kept going back to re-read or find more complete paragraphs. I especially found the ending to be most ridiculous. I would say this is for the young teen set and adults should stay away.

EXCELLENT BOOK! EXCELLENT SERIES!! It is a good plot and has absolutely captivated my imagination. It was very interesting to see the thirteenth century through twenty-first century eyes. The characters really grabbed me.

I love time travel and medieval historical type novels so this fit the bill. Got the first one and before I'd gotten very far into it went and ordered the whole series. Have not been disappointed. I like to learn something as well as be entertained. Not loaded down with sex either, good story and does have romance. The only thing I did notice is the occasional errors not in spelling but in grammar, not horrific though and does not spoil the story. They could have used a little better proof reading. Would and have recommended to friends.

So much has been written about this book, there is not much I can add. I wanted something different to read and saw all the raves about this book, then decided to give it a try. I was pleasently surprized. It was very good. For me, it had several strikes against it, before I read it. It was a historical romance and a time travel book. Not at all my genres. I will read more by this author. I highly recommend for readers ages 16 and up.

This is a wonderful fantasy series. I will be sad when it ends, you will get caught up with the characters and feel like you're transported back to 13th century Wales!

I spent many scenes nearish to the beginning exclaiming (aloud, to whoever was near) 'uh,that is totally not an okay way to react". The people are okay, the descriptions are okay. Nothing particularly stood out to me as awesome. I have no interest in reading the sequel.

This really is a historical fiction book. If you are interested in Welsh history, read it (although I can't vouch at all for any accuracy) but if you are looking for a time travel romance, forget it. There is very little of the relationship between the two characters--you have to accept the development without really seeing it. I skimmed most of the end just to get through it--and it wasn't worth it.
