Mary-Lynnette, seventeen, loves to watch the stars from her Oregon backyard. Then one day, she thinks she’s witnessed a murder through her telescope. She’s wrong: it’s only three vampire sisters burying their mysteriously-killed aunt. The sisters, Rowan, Kestral, and Jade ran away from their enclave home to live the lives of regular teenagers. However, when their brother Ash is sent to bring the girls back, he falls in love with Mary-Lynnette. But will she accept him because of his lurid vampire past and can a now-repentant Ash convince Mary-Lynnette to let him atone for his former sins and be his soulmate?

    I Love It!

Daughters of Darkness is so sweet, edgy, romantic, and so much more. I love Ash and he's my favorite male character of the nightworld series. L.J. Smith's books are great and this is one of my favorites

    Compelling Sequel

I continue to be surprised by how overally well-written the 'Night World' books are, collectively. For young people in particular, they are quality fiction. Three young female vampires come to tiny Briar Creek, Oregon, to live with their also-vampire elderly aunt, but homicide is the word of the day, and curious neighbors Mark and Mary-Lynette quickly find themselves ensconced in the dangerous waters of the Night World -- and the even more unpredictable currents of love. I didn't quite like 'Daughters' as much as 'Secret Vampire', the first book in the series. The tale had a bit less... urgency... than its predecessor, and while I did like the redemption of Ash, bad-boy blonde from the first novel, the character development was again a little underexplored. But the world-building is pleasant and well-done, without info-dumping on young readers with potentially short attention spans. Again I can't help but wonder what a greater length could have done for the series -- 'Daughters' 'plot is a bit simplistic. The ending felt... unsatisfying. But without doubt worth a read, as I will wager the entire series will be.

    *swoons* MAsh Love...

This has always been my favorite book in the Nightworld series. We see Ash Redfern, James' 'evil' cousin fall in love. I just can't seem to wait for Strange Fate so that we get to see if Mary-Lynnette and Ash meet up again, eight years later... 'One day you are going to fall in love, and it will hurt.'-Poppy.

one of my faves in the series!!!

this was absolutely one of my faves and the best in the whole night world series!! this book was witty and funny mixed in together thanks to Ash and Mary-Lynnette. Ash is one of my fave characters out of the entire night world series next to Thierry cuz he ats mean at first but ends up being softhearted at the end, him being soulmates with mary'lynnette. its really nice that his sisters are included in the book too cuz theyre really cool and all. and its nice to go inside and find out more about the Night World. me absolutely fave book besides Soulmate, The Chosen, Huntress, Black Dawn, and Witchlight, the other great books in the Night world i enjoy.

    I LOVE This Book!!!

So far this is my favorite book out of the Night World series. My favorite character of course is Ash. I love the struggle between him and Mary-Lynnette. They refuse to believe the are soulmates but end up together at the end anyway, personally if I were her I would have acepted the fact that we were soulmates from the very beginning.

    Best Night World Book!

This is absolutely my favorite Night World book. Ash and Mary-Lynette, are so completly different from each other, but end up being soulmates. This book gives the word soulmates a new meaning.

    The Best Book Ever!!

This has got to be one of my favorite books of all time! It really goes deeply into how the character feels. I felt I really knew them by the end of the book. I read this one first then Secret Vampire so at times I didnt get some stuff but if you read L.J's books in order then you'll understand everything! My favorite person has to be Ash because although he is mean at first, he was just really cool and funny.
